Waaayyyy Early mature of Buds?

hey everyone,

I have a plant (not sure what strain), And it is almost completely purple, Its being grown outside, and is getting nothing but WATER. The temps in Los angeles are about high 60, low 50. Also the trichs on all the buds seem to be almost fully matured and the plant has only been flowering for about 2 weeks. I dunno whats up?

Not even close to being mature. It just doesn't mature that fast.

It's purpling so much (way more than G-13 would ever purp out) because of the cold temps. Those temps ain't gonna last much longer, it's gonna be a cold one this year for CA, and that plant will seem near-black.

This will make it a little easier to tell when the trichromes are ready, though. just wait for all the trichromes to turn milky and just start turning amber (I prefer solid amber across the board before I harvest, it's all prsonal prefs, tho.)

Give it five to six more weeks minimum before thinking of harvesting.

yea, this is my frist plant So I'm no where near an expert, Im actually a beginner still open to learning. But after inspecting the trichs its seems like they are already turning amber. Could this be because of the cold? So it looks like its mature, but its really not?

Or could it be because of its lack of nutes? Since its been getting only water.

this plant baffles me. two weeks and it has a shit load of buds. and if it g13 i sure aint groin like any of mine ever have. u should pick a sample bud some where and test it out or something, that's the only way ur gonna know with something as out of the ordinary as this.

Maybe i'm wrong on the strain, that just what my friend told me who got it for me, but he could easily be wrong. So theres a good chance its not G13.

I think it may be possible for it to be mature. This is my theory... You obviously haven't had it outside the whole time or it would have flowered earlier, my guess is you moved it outside for flower after veg indoors. I think the shock of the cold set flower into motion VERY fast, as the plant thinks its time to grow is almost over, and its right, the outdoor growing season is over. This dramatic climate shift is what's responsible for the pretty color and the fast maturation. Probably lost a lot in final yield though, but it looks like some high quality ganja. Let me know if I'm right.

Yeah I think that the dankness is right. I have been growing around this time in california as well and all of my plants flower really early and not for a very long time. Its because of the deminishing light. Every day gets shorter until winter solstice. Basically weed plants arent meant to grow this time of year. But I still do it to get a little free smoke here and there!:weed:

Wow! It's pretty cool for me to see an outdoor plant finishing up at Christmas time. I've got two feet of snow everywhere and it doesn't want to stop falling. Best of luck on your harvest, hope it's some powerful stuff.

I like this theory, but I have been growing outside the whole time. But i do think the lack of light as triggered something that is making the plant rush the flowering process. This plant is nuts! All my other plants are going the right route, i have one that has been flowering for about 4 weeks and still has some time to go and 2 more are barely budded. Its really crazy

How is it possible you've been growing outdoors the whole time and only flowering for two weeks? You said you live in California, right? Well if so your plant would have started flowering near the end of the summer. If you planted any later than that, in theory it would only veg for a couple weeks then go straight into flower. Now, unless your plant is only 4 weeks old, there is no way it has only been flowering for 2 weeks. Flowering technically begins as soon as the first hairs show on the plant, are you sure you are accurate there?

yes, the plant is about 5 weeks old i planted it in october. I really have no idea why the process is so sped up? But its veg stage was very short until the flowering stage began. Im actually kinda upset because my yield for this plant is going to be soo low compared to what it should be, because of the light issue.

Well I don't think you should be disappointed! You just grew a plant to maturity in 5 weeks! I say that's a huge accomplishment. You may have gotten twice the yield off of a bigger plant, but it would have taken twice the time!

And some people at a now-dead forum told me you couldn't have done such a thing in such a short time, even with Lowryder.

And here we have proof of the exact opposite of what they've said.

Did you start from seed or from a clipping? I've heard that if you start from a clipping you can force it to flower early by changing the light cycle because the clone is already old enough to flower, but if you start from seed it won't flower until it's ready.
