Vyprx Plus Grow

First grow running this setup.

Brief Overview:

Light: Vyprx Plus from Fluence Bioengineering, 24 hour light schedule

Fan: Vortex S600 (Run on a Variac @ 110v)

Space: 2x4x6.5 Gorilla Grow Tent

Growing Medium: E.B. Stone Organic Ultimate potting soil and Organic Perlite mixed in 10g air pots

Nutes: GH Flora Nova Grow, will add cool bloom during flower.

So I'm in the middle of my fifth week of veg. Super excited for my new light, very impressed so far with how the plants are growing.

I got these three as clones. The light was too strong at first and fried three others. These plants are the survivors. The big ones went straight from their rockwool cube to the airpots. The small plant was stuck in a tupperware, D'oh!

Two on the left are Pink2 and the one on the right is Gorilla Glue #4.

C02 supplementation is on its way, and eventually this setup will evolve into a DWC grow. As of now, for ease and convenience I'm going soil.

I don't see too many people running Fluence gear hopefully this helps anyone in the community interested in their lights.

March 13th Update

The plants have really taken off with the 24 hour light schedule. The dwarf Pink2.0 that was transplanted late is starting to fill out more as well. Sorta regretting not getting on that faster. The Pink2.0 on the far left is an absolute monster. Realize that the difference in growth is on 5 days from the last set of pictures.

Right now I feed on each watering. 2gal between the three plants. 2tbsp of GH Flora Nova Grow.

Maybe I'm biased, but I swear they're doing well...

March 18th Update

Starting to think that the plants are getting fed up with the 24 hour light schedule. Growth has been great; explosive, even. But my leaves seem to be showing signs of stress. My monster Pink2.0 is yellowing a bit. Also some leaves are turning purple on the edges, I couldn't tell if it was nutrient burn or not. The gorilla glue is also a bit stressed as you can see some new growth twisting. PH levels are fine.

I'm gonna flip these guys soon.

Alright so I'm current with my updates now.

This weekend I prepped the tent to switch the plants to 12/12 light. I threw up some reflective tape on the inside of the tent on any fabric joint... i.e. like where the top zippers to the side walls. I also used some black silicone to seal up the windows. The windows are convenient, but I'd rather not risk the light leak. Black silicone, applied in a couple "coats", works really well for pinhole light leaks in grow tent fabric. There are several 10in ports for air flow and cooltube use... All they really represent to me are potential light leaks. To seal them more effectively I bought 10in rubber disks. The disks fit perfectly, and combined with the drawstrings, they provide great light proofing.

The flip has gone off without a hitch. Plants seem to be super perky.

Up next I think is a pruning...

Alright so I decided to prune these ladies. Essentially took off that wasn't getting direct light. All in all half a paper grocery bag filled with leaf and a few skinny shoot. With a good watering and 24 hours of time, the plants seem to be just fine.

Comments are totally fine

The plants seem to be doing pretty well still. One pest has been discovered and subsequently dispatched. Fungus gnats. Fml. Got Monterey BT, did a soil drench, will repeat after the soil dries out. The other pest has been myself(naturally). I forgot to turn my lights off this morning. Fucked up my schedule. We'll see how the ladies respond. I'm particularly worried about the Gorilla Glue #4 as I know it can herm easily.

Pics attached... That huge calyx though mmmm

Did my second defoliation today. Also started some bulking nutrients: liquid koolbloom and bud candy. I crushed some mosquito dunks(for larvae, and treated the plants with neem oil (for adult gnats)... hopefully thistakes care of my fungus gnat issue. Crossing my fingers to void any nute burn from the new products I'm introducing.

Weekend update with... Me.

The mosquito dunk/neem spray has done wonders to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, the fungus gnats. Here's a tip for neem oil:

Get a "wetting" agent.

A wetting agent will bridge the gap between the oil, water, and plant leaf. It basically help the neem stay on the leaf and not just drop off onto your tent or substrate.

In other news, my nutes are running high. I have the faintest bit of yellowing at the tips of my fan leaves. On top of that my N, P, and K tests all read high. The Pink 2.0 in the corner is suffering a bit right now. She's my favorite of the three so I hope I haven't damaged her potential too much.

Pink 2.0 definitely suffered from nitrogen toxicity. The other two plants seem to be doing well. Flowers are getting a bit frosty. Still looking for them to put on some bulk x.x

This 21 days into flower.

All it took was three days and only carbs for my NPK levels to drop. I felt that they were low enough to go half strength on the liquid koolbloom and bloom nutes. Kept the Bud Candy at 2tsp for a 2 gal mixture.

Fungus gnats are a thing of the past. I hope I can get away with not spraying neem oil. I hear it can effect taste.

Plants are doing well. I thought I had two Pink 2.0s. The scrawnier middle one being the second. However, the middle one smells definitively like an OG. It smells nothing like the super fruity Pink 2.0 I have in the left corner of my tent.

So now I'm of the belief that I have one Pink 2.0 and Two Gorilla Glue #4.

Still afraid to dose with either CalMG and/or silica. I want to try and figure the nute thing out. I'm really looking forward to a hydro setup. It will be much easier to measure and control what I give the plants. I have a whole RO system designed for my new house.

Now to just convince my wife....

Easter Weekend...

Outside of building a new dojo, traveling 200 miles, and attending a family dinner(while toting a newborn everywhere) we also have to move. Which also means moving the ladies. It's a total bust, hassle, whatever as I have an inverted light schedule from our day/night time.

Fed yesterday. Low doses of:

GH Flora Nova bloom
Liquid Koolbloom
CalMg
Bud Candy (rec. Dosage)

Plants survived the weekend without me. I'm really interested to see what they may yield.

Need to back off the nutes even more. Getting a slight yellowing at the tips of my gorilla glue.

Flower has been progressing well. The buds are frosting up and starting to fill out.

PH has been easy to keep in the 6.0-6.5 range. Nitrogen and Phosphorus though has been hard to keep at even levels. It seems that I either let the soil become depleted or saturated with either element. Mostly my N levels run high, then P, then K. I don't think I've ever seen a high K result come back on any of my test(dropper/pill method).

I feel like it's the Koolbloom. I've backed off it a bit. Same thing with the Floranova bloom. I will continue to use the liquid Koolbloom up until I switch to the powdered version. I'm dedicated to the process and gaining experience with these nutes. Hopefully I don't fuck it up at the end!

Man where to begin...

This past weekend I moved; the plants moved with me. I minimally disassembled the tent, laid it on its back, dropped the plants in and drove to my new house. In an obvious statement of priority, the plants were moved in first.

They are showing slight signs of stress. A bit of yellowing, but I think that's from the old nute levels. N and P levels still a bit high. Is there a nutrient that's only K?

Ladies are getting chunky and frosty, enjoy!

Awesome grow journal. Crazy that you pulled off the move! I am holding off on my first grow because I am moving myself. Looking forward to watching this!

Powder Koolbloom has been doing a great job. I have what I thought would be larfy buds falling over. The middle plant has the gnarliest nugs. I TOTALLY thought the plant was just sorta stunted

Bud porn...

Thanks for sharing your Fluence light experience. Everyone seems to be raving
about the SPYDERX Plus. It didn't make sense to purchase the SPYDERX Plus because of the bulky size and cost. I'm in the process of trying to make a decision on which lights to purchase. I feel like VYPRX would be sufficient and less likely to burn the plants, especially, when you consider the VYPRX Plus is suppose to be equal 1000 watt HPS. The price difference between the VYPRX and VYPRX Plus is $150. You get more output with VYPRX Plus. Do you recommend VYPRX or VYPRX Plus? Is there significant difference between the two, that you recommend one over the other?

Thanks

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
