Virgin Outdoor Grow

This is my first outdoor grow and would like any advice/critique I can get. How big should I expect these to get? Should I scrog or is it too late?IMG_20210630_152805.jpgShould I thin them out at all?
I've had some yellowing of lower and inner leaves. Is that normal or should I step up the feeding?

Different genetics have different growth structure. If the roots can get out into the surrounding soil and you take care of them well, they will definitely get over the fence. If you train them to spread out, they might still finish over the fence, but they'll be way wider.

Some older leaves will turn yellow and die. Feed according to feed schedule, but consider the size of pot the roots would be filling, and up the volume of feed mix you are applying accordingly.

Be concerned about all the bug pests. You should do weekly preventative maintenance. Once an infestation takes hold, it can mess things up quick. The plants are exposed to way more pests outside than inside. I'm sure you pay close attention and check them like 10 times a day, but just to reiterate, check under leaves for bugs, caterpillars, and mites. I use neem oil, spinosad, and bt on foliar and root drench. Do not foliar spray those after flower starts.

Good luck! Peace:peace:

@Klone00 are your plants in 5 gallon buckets in the ground?
I was curious as well about that. Wondering if the bottoms were cut out.

I sure wish I could grow some trees directly in the ground. But there are people in my life that prevent me from not being able to move a plant into the shed to hide it. Might be legal to grow but it's still taboo to some people. Friendships are more important than a huge pot plant at least to me.

I'd do more than cut the bottoms out; like get rid if the buckets....

Thanks for the advice and info. I anticipated them to get over the fence. I will do some training to keep them a little shorter. I'm gone for a week and running out of time before flower though.

The bottoms of the buckets are cut off and large drain holes around the bottom half of the buckets. Also dug 4-6 inches out under the buckets to add more soil. I wanted to contain the water and nutes a little and direct the roots down as the top soil is all clay and rocks in our yard. Gives me an edge to weed eat around too. I went back and forth on the buckets for sure.

I have been using Trifecta for pest prevention and Captain Jack's Dead Bug for treatment. It looks like you don't worry about thinning out the plants for mildew issues ..?

I've trimmed up the bottoms some. And I use those stakes to bend them away from the center. The big one on the back right in the first picture and front right in second picture is a volunteer that popped up way early. It showed pistils early on, so I decided I'd finish it. The other 5 were leftover clones I had that no one would take.

The bed is too full for sure. I've been trimming that BBW back a bunch of times. If not, it would already be at least 10ft, and I dont want them to get too far over the fence. Its fine if they see it next door, but I dont want it visible from the street. Its been raining a ton here, and I've been too busy to get out and clean everything up, but it's definitely due for some trimmage.

This is an old technique that guerilla growers used in california for decades to retain water and maintain a semblance of control over nutrients. ALSO, it is possible to remove a large plant and move it if necessary. I have done it myself using the same technique with a plant over 8 ft in height. The plants location had been discovered and i had to move it in a hurry. Plant survived the move just fine. This is also the technique used in Jamaica and Trinidad, the latter being a country with strict prohibition.

@Klone00, if I may kindly say...
While I have seen this kind of thing in other grows, unless U R in a location where U need to move them in a hurry, there is little benefit in using buckets in this way. This will actually hamper root growth near the surface which are the ones that gather the most nutrients for ur plants/crop.

ur plants look healthy so don't change things for this grow. If U R going to grow next year, I would recommend to put them straight into the ground. There R large benefits for ur plants when the roots can spread out. Clay soils can be amended with coconut coir and perlite. Large rocks can be removed. These kinds of things can really help... I've seen "night & day" differences in backyard grows when these changes R made.
Peace & Love... :peace:

So you're not honest with your friends? Seems like they weren't that good friends to begin with! I'm more of a love me or hate me guy. I do what I want and what makes me happy and fuck everyone else. If they don't like it they don't need to come over! There's obv some reasons to not be able to grow monsters. My fence is short and years of guerilla growing imprint 'stealth mode' in my brain. But I still grow em big just short and wide.
Live YOUR LIFE and be happy. Don't do what someone else wants you to do.
Pot plants make me happy so that's more important to me than having to pretend I'm somebody I'm not to 'friends'

What are you talking about?

Not everyone wants to walk around with a damn t-shirt with a pot leaf on it screaming "I'm a Stoner".

I have friends with kids. I don't want that stuff around in the open. And I also have business relationships with people that don't smoke weed. Sometimes they stop by.

It has nothing to do with being honest. Not everyone wants to prance around screaming "I grow weed!".

I keep my business to myself. Always have and always will. Not all the people I associate with are a bunch of stoners.

The only friends I have are good friends. Some of them don't smoke weed. I don't need it in their face when they come over.

Ya I get it. We just have diff views. It's just a plant to a kid no diff from any other plant. I understand not wanting to advertise to anyone coming over. Loose lips sink ships. I had to have a talk with my folks to not go around telling people or family I have weed. Not because I don't want them to know I just don't need them getting drunk or something and telling a great story of X's cousin growing weed. Easy to trace that down.
Everyone's got diff situations I suppose. Everyone knows me as a stoner but not the typical one. I don t have people over that aren't ok with weed. I don't even know if I know any? Either way not everyone has a situation where they can tuck it away in the back of the property etc. I just thought it was weird that you said people in your life prevent you from doing something you want to do. Just sayin man one life. Yolo. Don't be bound up in others people's shackles. Do what you want to do.

Nobody's preventing me from doing what I want to do. I want to grow weed and I do. I just grow it in a way that I can put it away if I need to.

I also don't want trees growing either. I don't need that much weed for one thing. And I would rather just have a few plants in 3-5 gallon pots during the summer anyway. I'm more concerned with my tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, etc... over the summer. I don't want to waste space with cannabis. I'm starting up my indoor grow right now and I still have plenty of weed and the few plants I have outdoors will yield more than I can smoke for months.

I'm well beyond the
Snitches get stitches" mentality. I don't roll in those circles. Everyone I know is pretty much an established professional doing well in the career they chose.

I have friends that stop by with bottles of wine and we drink. I don't break out any cannabis because they don't smoke. They might know that I smoke but I would prefer that they don't have it in their face with a bunch of big plants.

Just because someone doesn't consume cannabis doesn't mean that they are not worthy of friendship. Half my friends don't smoke. The other half are drunks.

Sorry I must have mistaken what you said earlier
No you didn't mistake anything.

I'd like to be able to grow trees but I don't because I need to keep my stuff to myself.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make. I've been clear with what I do and why I do it.

Lol. Ya. Very clear. All good. Do what you want to or don't because people hold you down. I'm still not sure exactly where you stand as you've contradicted yourself in different posts.
Anyways not looking for a battle. Have a good one (or not...?)

I’m a stealth grower and even if/when it is legalized in my state or decriminalized nationally I’ll continue to keep my cannabis growing activities concealed.

Very well put, I am also a high level working professional and don't think what I do with my time is anyone's business. Not to mention having young children and their friend relationships ect. I live in Canada where it is tottaly legal to grow and have on your possession. But No one understands that this could still negatively affect my career or social relationships.
