Viparspectra xs4000

I’ll be running a viparspectra xs4000 in a 4x4 I will be running seed plants and clones under it that are already ready to flip to flower.
The viparspectra xs4000 uses Samsung LM301B diodes in a mix of 3000k 5000k 660nm and 730nm IR. Powered by a mean well hlg 240 driver. There are 1008 diodes, driven to 480w. Viparspectra went with a longer rectangular shape instead of a more traditional square. The dimmer knob let’s you control the intensity of the light and is very responsive. Unlike other similar companies they choose to go put a actual finned heat sink instead of flat sheet metal or a baking pan style. Overall the light is very well built and very sturdy out of the box. It comes in at about 40inches long by 13 inches wide. Cool bud, gonna follow along on this one. I got the XS2000 yesterday as I wanted something for my 2 x 4. Gonna put some plants I am doing a seed run on under them this weekend. The specs say these lights should perform great, can't wait to see for myself. I like the rectangular shape for my 4x2, I wonder how that shape will work in a square tent? Yea I was wondering about that too. Being rectangular and all but This round I’m not going to be filling the tent wall to wall but more keeping plants under the light beat I can going to run 8 in 1 gal pots will update tonight

Decided not to run 8 in 1 gal instead I chose more and some some 2 gal pots as well. Let’s see what this @ViparSpectra Grower XS4000 can do! 7BE6E1DB-4E1F-45D6-836C-DA5E7C887467.jpeg

Lol I have it cranked at 100 and I have the exhaust fan and another blowing into the plants some but not on the light itself. It gets nice and warm you won’t leave your hand on the ballast long, but I’m gettting another fan to blow over the board itself. temps in the tent stay about 84f with light on.
average temps in house is 70f or so

Thanks, I was wondering. With a larger heat sync and the fins on it I am hoping a fan on it keeps it cool. I will find out. I am betting this thing will perform well.

The offset design you have reduces sink flex. But if the drivers are not level horizontally or vertically they tend to accumulate heat in the ends. Was my point. And a cooler driver will live longer.
