I know I have shared with you that I will more than likely be growing mazar in the near future but I have a question for you. How bad does the mazar stink? Using the odar machine that you posted, is this strong enough? It is very important that the odar not be detected. Let me know what your thoughts are.

I don't know what odour machine you're referring to, but if you're serious about having no smell there's really only way way to go - the correct sized exhaust fan hooked up to a charcoal carbon filter or scrubber I beleive they're referred to in the US and a totally sealed and self contained grow area. Force the odour through the exhaust fan and out of the charcoal filter.

These plants do stink! I've not grown Mazar, but as it's a fairly Indica dominant plant as was the one I've just grown out and if it's anything like the one I grew, mine started stinking big time after about 3 weeks of veg which forced me to hook up the exhaust fan to the carbon filter which did a very effective job of removing the smells.

Take odour removal seriously - these plants can smell and they smell quite strongly in most stages of their growth and particularly in the drying and curing stage. For peace of mind - get an exhaust fan hooked up to a carbon filter.
 
Rather than telling me to get an exhaust fan and carbon filter, being that I know nothing about what you are talking about, can you tell me where to look online so that I can see what you are talking about? I would prefer to see something from "Home Depot" and not a grow journal. Thanks
 
For a lot of us amateurs who are growing less than 10 plants, installing an exhaust fan on a room may not be feasible and may give away what we are doing. I think the odor removal machine Flip may be referring to is the homemade one - bucket, Ona and fan.
 
negative ion generators can be picked up at walmart for real cheap too and as long as the room isn't too big they'll get the job done fairly efficiently
 
this is what baby gro is referring to. there are many companies...the Phat's a very light compared to Can-Filters..but other than that..they work the same.

I'm "legal" and could produce paperwork if there was a knock cus I was stinking up the place..but why take the chance?

Good advice from babygro. You really want to eliminate the odor..not just mask it. Anyone who knows the smell knows the smell...

jail is always more expensive than a fan/filter combo....

Well I'm not in the US, so cannot comment on what you can and cannot get there - for that you'll need a US-Centric person to help you.

An exhaust fan serves two primary functions and its size or volume of air it moves is depedant on the size of your grow area. 1) It controls the temperatures in the grow area by exhausting out (through the carbon filter) hot stale air and 2) it brings in fresh cooler co2 rich air via the passive vent system.

That basically means you have to match the size of your fan (to move sufficient warm air out of the grow space) and bring in fresh air to the size of your grow area.

So many people ignore this side of their grow area which is probably the most important aspect of it outside of your grow lights. If you do not have a facility for cooling your grow area and bringing in fresh co2 rich air your plants will simply either not grow healthily or won't grow at all. The odour removal aspect of this is simply a bolt on to it's primary functions.

When I first started growing I was given this advice - and it was probably one of the most important pieces of advice I was given - and I valued it and it ensured my first grow went as smoothly and as error free as it could have done and I slept easily at night knowing no tell tale odours were escaping from my grow area.
 
There is always more than oneway to skin a cat, and I can assure you that the "odor removing machine" does not mask the odor, it removes it.

There is alot of people here that have built it, and they now have no odor problems at all. In fact some people love it so much that they built an additional one for there living room to take care of pet odors too.

It is cheap and simple to assemble.

Firstly I understand what you're saying and I appreciate what you're saying and why you're saying it. It's a fair comment to make, however...

As beenthere says above, investing in an appropriately sized exhaust fan and efficient carbon filter is a lot cheaper and less hassle than spending 5 years in a state penitentary which is what you may be looking at if you do not remove the tell tale odours from your grow area.

I'm not kidding when I give out this advice - these plants can stink bigtime - and they have a very distinctive odour and some strains are a lot more pungent than others. Do you know that LEO's in the USA if they suspect something have been known to stick their noses into someone's letter box to see if they can smell the tell tale signs? I don't want to scare you, but if you ignore this vitally important area you're very much putting yourself at risk of detection.

Odour removal is quite different to odour masking which is what Ona does.

I urge everyone to treat this subject very seriously, the first thing people should do after deciding on their lighting setup is to spend some time considering air exchange and odour removal in their grow areas as this is the next most important area to sort out.

If you cannot install an efficient exhaust fan and charcoal filter setup in your grow area (for whatever reason) seriously consider whether you want to be growing marijuana or not - that's my advice. And I give that advice for your own safety - not mine.
 
Baby, I appreciate the advice and concern. I really can't speak from experience whether the homemade machine masks or eliminated odors. From what those who do use it say, it ELIMINATES odors. I do not rely solely what I read on here when it comes to a critical decision - I read multiple sites and so far, I haven't read where the homemade machine didn't do the job. Again, I am talking small time grows. I imagine when you get into growing dozens of plants, maybe you need a more vigorous and powerful machine.
 
Again, it does not mask odors, it uses scientific principles of molecular bonding to neutralize and remove odors.

While it is easy to bash something you know nothing about, try speaking to the many people here in this forum who actually have built and use it, quite successfully I might add.

Fair enough.

I've never used Ona and therefore cannot comment on its effectiveness. All I know is, pretty much every single person I've ever come across who grows seriously, uses an exhaust fan and carbon filter to remove their odours.

Even if you do use the Ona system and it works effectively, you still have to provide for air exchange in your grow area for the reasons I've already given. Seems to me people are missing a trick if they have to install an exhaust fan anyway but choose to use the Ona odour removal system.

Each to their own I guess, I just urge people to treat the subject of odour removal and air exchange in their grow areas seriously and not as an after thought.

2. Cools the grow room?
3. Gives of C02?
4. If I use this will I have to open the doors to my growroom to get fresh air or does the carbon filter make the fresh air?
 
I don't know about everyone else but my house has central A/C, so I have a steading stream of fresh air being pulled into the house and grow area and this takes care of the air exchange issue.

If you had a properly installd exhaust, you wouldnt need to open the door.

How do you control the temperatures in your grow area or does the A/C keep the whole house cool enough that it doesn't become a problem? How about RH?
