VH root budding

ok so i heard from Hobbes that you can clone from pulling the roots from the bottom of the rootball that is grown in soil or soilless medium and since i grew my og kush in soil and harvested it i decided to take the roots and try this out. so i took the roots off of the bottom and put them into a bucket with some soil and moistened the soil with a spray bottle, than i put some saran wrap over the bucket and put black trashbag over it so light couldn't get through, now it is supposed to take a couple WEEKS to sprout but im willing to wait that long :lol:

if im going to get more than 1 sprout from it haha so stay tuned and ill update by weeks or by the activity that is going on if i see some activity.

Looking good hotsxyman! You've got a lot more roots in your mix than I do, I had an old HPS bulb and my roots didn't develop well on this grow.

I'll link the other tests to your thread if you don't mind, keep all the tests together so we can see how each other is doing.

i have no problem with that, and yes i have quite a bit of roots because i took the old rootball that i just harvested from and just ripped the main stem off so it was only roots left over, do you think that will still work? if not there is no real loss for me haha. but the roots in the bucket are mostly torn from the other roots anyways so we will see how it goes.

I cant see how this would work. Cannabis plants dont have very bulbus roots like a lily or hydrangena so there isnt much reserve energy for the roots to be able to remail functioning until they can grow enough plant material to produce its food.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see what happens.

I just read the other thread that started all this. HOLY CRAP. The step by step and the pics are fantastic.

Now i know what to do with all those leftover roots after i harvest.

ok so its been 5 days and my update is not much progress looking but re sprayed the soil to moisten it a little and thats about it for me.

I want it to work, i just dont have enough information to convince me that it will. I have more information that leads me to believe that it wont.

Last year, i took the roots from my male plants, chopped them up, and burried them in the flower beds. A lot of them were in conditions similar to what you are doing, and nothing came up.

Again, i want this to work. If it does.....ha ha, ill carpet my basement with yummy plants.

I doubt this will work.....at all...it is a cool experiment if it worked but as far as trying to do this to get more plants it is way (emphasis on way) more efficient just to clone of a vegging plant...my 2 cents

i quit the experiment becasue i needed the bucket for one of my plants so i tossed the roots but ill be trying this another time just when i can actually devote the bucket for my plant. lol

Grab some XLarge zip lock bags to replace your buckets. I'm using them for all my new roots, we can keep a half dozen bags of roots in the same dark bucket that held one set of roots. Or chuck the bag in a dark drawer.

If you've tossed your roots just start up the next time you harvest a plant - though your roots should be fine if they've only been out of the bucket a day or so. Sprinkle the old roots with distilled water, mix in some fresh pro mix, throw it in a ziplock.

As I've said, it's like watching sod grow. You gotta kick back for the long haul.
