Very Low Height DWC

G'day

I'm restarting my grow and have very limited height, and can only grow 1 plant. My plan is to try and grow 1 plant lst'd onto a screen, and only letting the buds grow up.

Is it possible to grow in a largish capacity container (5 gal or so) with only a height of 4inches - 20inchx20inchx4inch?

I will fill the container with air stones so there will be plenty of oxygen.

I've grown a plant about the size I want to now in a 3-4gal bucket with no problems, but that was quite high, so need something shallow.

Cheers

i think it would work fine. the larger flatter container would have a larger surface area too so youd have even better oxgen content in the water.

I've seen similar set ups with sizes varying from 2-5 gallons. I would think that as long as you watch the root growth you should be fine. What size net pots are you using? and how many air stones? I would think the best thing to do would be like what maltese is saying, just make sure you get a nice blanket of bubbles going and maybe secure the airstone to the bottom of the container.

One other thing I've seen is people trimming down their stems. I've heard its best to keep at least 6" or so of root in the water. I'm not 100% sure on that though. Part of me wants to think as long as the plants in the water, got air flow, good ph and nutes that length of roots shouldn't muck it up too bad. On the other hand I also kinda think that'd be unneeded stress on the plants most would try to avoid. Maybe itd be best to try during veg rather than flower.
