Very First indoor grow... not too shabby

I figured I would share my first indoor with everyone. Built my indoor grow room a little larger than the average just to get a bit more height out of the plants. Was able to get a 1000 watt dual system at a really good deal and a nice new carbon filter set up as well. The plants were started from seed and were planted on Oct. 1st after cracking. The soil used was the Scotts potting soil which provides a decent mix of starting nutrients IMO for the first timer. At first I noticed that the stems looked a bit weak so I upped the fan speed a little and boy did that do the trick. Stems are nice and strong now after about a week of the fan on them. I started off with 3 Nirvana Northern Lights and 3 of the Nirvana ICE all non feminized. 1 of the ICE did not crack at all even after leaving it for an extended period and another of the ICE did crack and sprout nicely but began to mutate after the first 2 weeks. Not sure what that was all about as everything was fine nute and PH wise as well as light wise. So I am now down to 4 plants 1 ICE and 3 Northern Lights. The first picture is of my ICE plant which has taken off like a rocket and is super bushy.. I am hoping it comes out female. The other 3 are of the Northern Lights and are noticeably smaller in the leaf size but not in height. I will keep this updated as the grow goes and add as many pictures as I can. Here's hoping to an all female batch!

Tks... I'm glad you like them... I'm looking forward to getting the plants sexed soon and seeing what I have. They are growing very very fast which is nice, another 4 days or so and I think they will be ready to go to 12/12 for a few days to determine sex then back to the veg schedule for some more growing. I just started adding nutes today as well and am excited to see how they are going to react

Im not so sure about going 12/12 then back, it scares me of the possibility of going hermie.

You could take a little clone, then 12/12 that in another area(if at all possible) and see that way. Going 12/12 and back is just something i haven't put the research into, what little i have scares me off.

Looking good so far man, nice and healthy. Excited to see your progress. Hope everything works it self out. Cheers and good luck

Thanks... that time lapse thing would be great...lol... every morning when I check on them the progress is really amazing cause it is so obvious. Just wish I could fast forward to the good part...lol.

From what I understand and from what my local hydro store owner tells me is that if you go 12/12 for 5 days and then back to veg at 18/6 you should be OK. He said he has done it with great success. My plan is to wait until the branches are just a bit longer before I switch to 12/12 to check the sex.

Thanks... I'm getting really excited myself.. the success of my grow is the direct result of reading my butt off on the forums here. Thanks to all the RIU members and their wealth of information I got started in the right direction.

Cheers,
BR.

Looking real nice man. Leaves look healthy.

karr is right. You can clone one of them, and go 12/12 with the clone to see if it's m or f.

I was also debating on just letting them go naturally... seeing as how it would only be another week or so before they are mature enough to start showing their sex. Decisions decisions...lol.... I must say it has been fun starting them from seed though...
