Vertical Growing Question.

I have seen great results with verticle setups. But, the one thing I can not understand is if one has a large bushy plant, what happens to the growth on the opposite side from the bulb?

In looking at plants, I can not see how the light would penetrate to reach them and I can not see how they can be pulled through to the illuminated side.

Do you verticle guys just deal with the fact that a number of shoots are wasted or what?

pretty basic biology mate, plants are phototropic and thus grow towards light...so no shoots are gonna grow in the opposite direction to the lamp..

Are you telling me a latteral branch will grow in a 180 degree U turn and then poke out the other side of the plant to where the light is?

yes man that's why all the different types of high and low stress training procedures work..

I've seen the vertical grow threads and I'm not looking for a debate on the matter.

I'd be interested to see a picture of a large horizontal branch that has made a 180deg U turn and poked through the other side of the plant. I know how phototropism works but I have never seen it have that much of an effect. Plus, if you have a bushy dense plant, wouldn't the branch need to grow way longer than the others in order to poke through?

it doesn't grow through the plant, it will just grow out of the normal side then twist round towards the light. thus of course it will be longer than the other branch on the node

I was envisioning a half pipe shaped screen exactly like the one in the picture, that is slick. How many can you fit around a 600W HPS?
