Venting unfinished basement

Tent grower here. Considering making the switch to my basement as an expansion. The floor and walls are concrete. Old window sill areas that are sealed with wood and insulation. Ceiling is hardwood. I have no idea how one would, if they even can, properly filter the area. Im not concerned with smell inside the house only with smell escaping. Thoughts?

Exhaust threw the old windows. With a carbon filter you won’t have any smell.
Well I know that haha. I appreciate the reply. I guess my concerns are that I more or less figured the fan would be drawing air from millions of places and potentially just pulling the air from around itself and not really the plants. In a tent you create negative pressure and you know the only air escaping is filteted.

How big of a spot are you going to use to grow? A 6” fan cranked up will create a negative air pressure in my whole house.

You could attach supports to the ceiling joists for a carbon filter and fan setup coming out of the top of your tent. Air in the basement from the tent will be scrubbed. For extra insurance you could run an exhaust fan out of the basement, opposite end of wherever the stairs come down. That way air is pulled through the house down into the basement and outside. Pointing your tent exhaust towards the exhaust vent would also help.

The entire area is about 15 feet by 12 feet. I will not be using a tent. Would I have to enclose my area or can I filter the room and just place the filter by the plants?

You can run a fan and filter by the plants and just have it filter the room air over and over.

If you have it exhausting out side you would just need a air intake on the opposite side of the plants. This would pull fresh air across the plants and create a draft as all the stinky get pulled over to the fan/filter

Those fans are crazy strong.
A 6” fan can totally exhaust a 2400sqft house in. Less then a hour.
Should be able to exhaust your 12x15 grow once every 3 min Aprox. Little less with a carbon filter.

Always over size fans IMO. Can always turn them down.
My 3x3 has 6” fan that exhausts my tent air out of the house.

I just run big carbon filters in my rooms as scrubbers. If you have quality carbon filters and enough CFM to process the room volume every 2 minutes or better then you can stand in the room and not smell the plants unless you rub your nose on a bud.

Use the airflow from the carbon filters to help with your air circulation, replacing a couple wall fans.

Rent a bosch hammer drill and put a 4 or 6 inch hole in brick.. Toss a dryer vent on outside.
