ventilation, cool tube, exhaust questions

Im plannind on using a 400w changeable mh/hps light fixture, and it already has tempered glass on it. would i still need to use a cool tube for it? and when setting up the ducts on either side does it matter where i put the inline fan?

The only part about this whole process that has me baffled is the ventilation and air setup :(

if it is a cooltube fixture, u want to PULL the air through the light, with the INTAKE ducting down low on the outside of your room/tent and the EXHAUST ducting up high on the outside of your room/tent. That is also how u should vent a room or tent when not using cooled fixtures. I have found this is usually the best way

so I would need to use an intake fan to pull tha air into the room throught the light and then out through the other side of the light? or does it go straight through the tubbing and go out through the other end?

For the fan don't scrimp. Get a vortex, canfan or something like that. For the rest hardware stores usually have what you need.

Also it is easier for a fan to push than pull. Though if your not going a long distance it shouldn't really matter.

since its going to be a medium sized space, would just using a really good exuasht fan and some lower circulating fans take care of everything. or should i also look into setting up an intake system?

Np :D Try and get some pics when you get setup so we can see! One thing i forgot to mention. If possible make the passive intake on the opposite side of the room from the exhaust, and even better across and diagonal from it.

Hey guys, I have a question:
I have a 2'x4'x4' supercloset, and the 2 axial fans I have on it are noisy as hell (one to the 400w HPS and one for the carbon scrubber). Cheap shit.
http://supercloset.com/products/superflower.php

I was thinking about replacing the two little fans with an S&P TD-100 inline fan.

Could I use one TD-100 for both by using a Y-adapter, or would I be better off using separate fans for each line?

I just want this system to be as quiet as possible. The cab is located in my home office and I need to get work done in that room. The crazy whine of those existing fans is just too much to bear.

Any advice on this matter?

Would I be better off making the exhaust and light cooling one line like this link has?

I didn't see any cfm specs for your fans but if the cfms are close to the same for your current fans and the td 100 than it should work no problem. You can tie in the exhaust line from your lights to your main line so you only have 1 exhaust line out no problem there. But you don't want 1 fan drawing air from the growroom than blowing it through the lights and out as the air coming from the room is warm already. You want to draw air for your lights from outside the room if possible. I couldn't seem to load the pics from the links for your setup so i'm kinda flying blind.....hope this helps still :P

Hey dude,
Thanks for the response!

To answer your question, the fans that are currently installed are 55cfm each, but the exhaust fan is not actually running that well, since it is pulling from a 4" carbon scrubber from Foothill Filters.

Does that scrubber work well? You could try switching the scrubber from the beginning of the line to the end of the line. It is easier for the fan to push than pull.

The filter itself actually works great. It replaced the worthless Odorsok that the system came with. My whole place smelled like ganja, and within 30 minutes of installing that filter, all of the odor was gone.

The problem is the whine from those damn fans.

These are them (the 4" ones).

The fan is more efficient and doesn't work as hard if it is pushing rather than pulling which might help a little with the noise. As for through a scrubber i see no reason why it would be better to pull than to push except as to the most convenient location for the fan o_O
