Vegging from clone or seed...

So, when growing from seed or from clone, how long is a veg cycle wether indoor or outdoor in soil? Is it strain dependent or from some other point of view?

Other than autos, strains veg as long as you want them. If you go 12/12 from seed you will yield more from seed than clone due to the fact that a clone is already a mature plant while a seed has a nature veg time because it has to mature and grow into an adult plant before flowering. I personally like seeds better than clones anyhow for several reasons, but if you want uniformity clones make sense.

Outdoor is different because its a season and mine veg may to august or September and flower October through november.

Pretty much yeah, but knowing the strain might give you an idea what to expect. You could keep a mother plant on veg for years if you wanted to. I was informed my strain (unknown atm but they have been growin them a few years) will grow close to another 2 ft when in 12/12.

Others set grid around 30cm read up on height I'm not 100% sure, too high atm and when the the plant grows through the grid ppl will make a scrog using a grid then flip to 12/12

Others scrog, go 18/6 an extra week. Then go 12/12

IMO indoors it comes down to turn around crop times wanted and amount of space/room you have

Worst case your stretch will be 3x so judge accordingly re height. Also I think kmog got it backward re clone versus seed for amounts. Seems to me (could be wrong) that clone would produce more than a seed at 12/12 from germ using same strain and setup. My first grow was White Russian and that girl went crazy like the magic beans Jack grew lol. She stretch at least 3x after switch. Oh and dont forget the room required for the light, i did lol.
