veg under hps question

High all,

I am going to start going soon and would like to know if anyone had any advice on vegin under hps light its 150w my grow space is going to be approx 19inc deep 27 inch wide and about 5-6 feet tall. the strain im going to grow is nirvanas northern lights. any help is greatly appreciated

Personally, I would just veg under some fluoros like 1in. from their tops then switch to hps

if ur using the HPS u might wanna get one that has the added blue spectrum. HPS lights have more red spectrun than blue and the blue spectrum is widely believed to be needed during vegging...HOWEVER, I vegged and flowered under all warm white/red spectrum cfl's and the plants seemed to like that a lot, so i'll do that again next grow

plenty of people have done it. you should be fine. a friend of mine is having sucess right now with only 220 watts of hps. keep the plant short as penetration may be an issue with 150 watts. i used a 175 watt metal halide for my whole grow and found that near the end it simply did not penetrate enough to the lower leaves. adding three 23 watt cfls did the trick tho

the only real advice about it that you will get is that its gonna stretch if you arent careful.... and that they are HOT
