Veg under 2x40w floruos or 400w HPS?

Starting my first SoG ebb soon and Ive got a new 400w HPS and snow white fems on the way. Should I veg the momma and clones with flouros or use my HPS? Dont wanna burn the babies. Thanks. Just wondering the best way to veg momma and her clones.
 
I'd say 2-3 weeks under the floruos and switch them to a halide if you have a switchable ballast or could use a verted hps/mh bulb,i don't know how well the converted bulb works but it's a thought, then switch to your hps for flowering;-)
 
the fluros will be good to veg them. how many plants u plan to start with? i personaly use fluros fo veg and fo my clones! 24/0 lights all the veg period! 12/12 under 400hps fo flowerin, so almost same here ;) hehehe check my gro if ya want :mrgreen: :joint: >>>
 
Absolutely use the fluros, they are great for vegging, plus it will save on electricity
 
Awesome cheetah!! Gonna check your grow after I type this. Got home from work early today.

I have 5 snow white fems on the way. Was going to start with germing 2 of the 5 for the 2 mommas. Should I just germ all 5?

I'll be running SoG ebb/flow in a 6x6 room and was planning on 4 plants at a time for a 1/4 lb. every 2 weeks (hopefully).

The total will be 16 flowering plants, 4-6 clones and the mothers in the room at once (about 25 plants total). I have a 4 foot floruo with 2 40w tubes right now, and my 400w HPS will be here around the time my seeds arrive. Probably ordered the HPS a lil early. Oh well.

I plan to get a few CFLs to help with the mother if I need them. Dunno if just the tubes will be alright for everyone in my veg section.
 
Thats only 4 sq. ft. of plants under the 400w HPS.

100w per sq. ft. should be plenty from what I've read.

Am I wrong?
 
i mean that if ya grow the plants from seeds the things may get out of control and to overcrowd the growroom mate.
 
If you need fast growth to take clones you can temporarily run the HPS and they will definately grow faster, but if you have time for a longer veg then the flouro's are great for energy saving. (provided you don't run so many that hps would have been more efficient.)
 
couple feet wtf??? i keep mine 400watter 20cm from the tops. i jus have one 120mm computer fan blowing between the light and the tops and a big fan blowin on the plants! im growin in room , not in a dresser or sumfin btw...
