Veg time.. does it start when they break soil, or after the seedling stage?

From everything I've read, the seedling stage of a cannabis plant's life lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. Do we start counting veg time AFTER this period, or is the seedling stage included in veg time?

I hear people say they "veg" for 4 weeks before flipping into flowering. Does this mean 4 weeks from the end of the seedling stage, or 4 weeks from breaking soil?

|After the seedling stage i usuall start counting from two weeks after they pop up,or
two weeks after i cloned them, just take it easy on the nutes for the first week!!

Thanks Gippy666. Is this what most other growers do, as well? Or do most people just start counting from the time they break soil? 4 weeks in seems a little early to start flowering for me. I've got some plants that are 5 weeks after breaking soil and only about 6 inches tall! They're working on their 8th node now. Been keeping the lights very low so internodes are quite short and I just started some LST. I'm just trying to figure out how much longer I should veg them for. Height isn't really an issue since they're all tied down, anyway, and I'm thinking I might reveg them after the first harvest. Do you think I should go ahead and start flowering now, since I'm going to reveg them after harvest anyway? Or should I give them a little more time in actual veg, since they are barely out of the seedling stage now?

I'd let them get taller,i usually go for about 18" or so the bigger the plant the
greater the yield, say 5 weeks after breaking the soil,i would count as three weeks veg growth,
i usually aim for 5 or six i used to do 3 weeks veg,8 flower, but find vegging them big is the way to go,
plus you don't have any height limitation so you are very lucky in that respect,i'd give them a bit longer though,
but it's really a personal choice, either way i hope it turns out to be a kick ass grow for you ;)

Thanks again, I'm leaning towards giving them another 2 weeks in veg before flowering, maybe even more. I was originally going to flower them once they reach one foot high, but since deciding to LST that's kinda thrown my whole op in a different direction.

I think when most growers say 4 weeks in veg they mean 4 weeks from sprout, and that's short. Either way, I would decide when to flower based on what you see in front of you not how long it took to get there. 5 weeks is usually it for me.

Thanks. I'm a little impatient, so I probably won't wait much longer to change the lighting to 12/12. Like you said, I'm going by what's in front of me so I'm skeptical about flowering when the plants are still so short. If I can manage to stick it out, I'd like to wait until about the 14th node to flower them but we'll see =)

I think most people are from sprout.

I'm from sprout, at 25 days my plant is over 12 inches already, I want to veg for 5 weeks or 35 days but I'll flip the lights no matter what day it is when they hit 18 inches. Although I think they are already starting to show signs of wanting to flower, they are starting to go every other node on leaves I believe instead of 2 leaves per node. Or maybe its a sativa stretch thing.

But GL with your plants!

Personally I begin my count from the day I germinate the seed. It doesn't really matter though - there is no set time for vegging, what matters is, how big you want it to be, and how much space you have to grow in. :peace:
