Veg room odor going to be an issue?

Ok, so I am still planning a setup, which I plan to start this winter. For the flowering room I am going with a 4 x 4 x 6 grow tent w/ all the bells and whistles, for the mother room I am going with a grow tent as well, prolly 2x2...But for my seedlings/clones I am considering turning a bedroom closet into a grow room. The closet is 45" wide from right to left, 24" deep, and 8' from floor to celeing (not considering the shelf at the top). I am considering putting two vents on the closet door, one on top and one on bottom, and using a intake fan on the bottom vent to bring air in.

Now recently I had a buddie who said the veg closet for the seedlings/clones should not give off to much of an odor. If this is the case, I would rather NOT cut two holes in my closet door for vents, and instead just leave the door cracked open w/ the normal intake and circulation fans. I am looking for opinions from others as to rather I should consider setting up some sort of air filter for this closet, or if veg smell will be minimal. Its been a few years since I have done an indoor grow, and can not recall if my plants stunk the first few weeks or not.

Thanksin advance,

Seedlings and clones are not likely to produce much odor, so you should be okay with using the closet for this purpose, imo.

You should be okay for the most part, depending on strain and/or how long you veg. My Bubblelicious got fairly odorous at weeks 4 - 6 of veg, and needed a filter, but my current crop of blue mystic autos are at week 5 (week of 2 bloom) and virtually unscented.

I think that the odor will be enough that it will become a problem. Especially if it is in your bedroom. It will be wafting around the main floor. Adding vents is just going to distribute it more. My vegging plants are every bit as stinky as the flowering plants pound for pound.

Do you vent your veg room?! I was thinking that if there were going to be a problem at all, maybe a simple febreeze bucket setup would nip it...?

I think the question was is the smell going to be an issue, and it absolutely will be. With no type of odor control it is a matter of time before the whole main floor stinks. Some strains may be worse than others but like an old fish, they all stink.

AGREED.

I grow mothers for clones from time to time and can vouch for odour being an issue. If you grow from seed everytime and give 2-4weeks of veg then odour isnt really a problem, but a mother needs to be at least 6weeks old before being cloned at all, she will smell and her daughters smell, granted its nowhere near the smell of a flowering plant but its still apparent what it is.

I currently have 4xDINAFEM POWER KUSH growing from seed and they STINK at 2weeks of veg.

I think the op specified that "for the mother room I am going with a grow tent as well...But for my seedlings/clones I am considering turning a bedroom closet into a grow room."

While I agree that a mother room would need odor control, I don't believe odor will be an issue with seedlings and clones in a closet...as long as it's not used for vegging over a long period as well.
