I'm getting ready to set up a veg/mother tent. I ordered the sunhut 2x4 which is actually 2'11'' deep x 4.5' long x 7' tall. 2x4 is pretty misleading... But anyways.
I'm thinking about purchasing a quantum badboy 4 ft 8 bulb t5 but since I've never used anything but hps I wasn't sure if this was enough light. I think i read that you want 50w per square foot with t5's? but i do not plan on utilizing all 7 feet of height in the room either. I want to be able to veg 15 cuttings with 3 or 4 mothers sharing the tent. Vegging plants in a tray of coco hydroton mix while mother will most likely be in large pots, possibly utilizing soil. Just figured soil would make taking care of them easier. Still haven't decided but its prolly best to keep my medium standard across the board.
I veg to around 18-22'' tall and I do not plan on letting my mothers grow any larger than 3-5 feet. My plan is to keep the t5 just above the mothers and use a shelf that I can lower to keep the vegging plants right under the light as well.
Do you think the quantum badboy 4 ft 8 bulb t5 is enough or should I plan on buying additional lighting for the side walls of the tent?
After veg plants are tranfered to flower tent which is 4x8x7 with 2k hps lighting in an ebb and flow hydro scrog setup.
