between LEDs and a T5 what should i use?

which would be cheaper eclectic bill?
& which produces less heat?

this would only be for Vegging a few plants for 4-6 weeks from seed before flowering.

kinda leaning towards the a 300w LED if that would work.

One of these in 5000K and you start of with the light dimmed down and about 18" from the canopy and adjust from there:

If not I would just recommend a 400w Blue MH from eye hortilux if your ballast can work it/fire it up

OR

A 315 CMH with a veg bulb. I do not know what you have laying around etc so kind of recommending blind here............

Just my humble opinion good luck :bigjoint:

Either of those will work, but you can get a good 4 light T5 setup that will work just as good for much longer. Frankly, I think the 8 bulb one Colo linked is way overkill for just vegging a few plants. (3 or 4) If you were going to push 6 or 8, then go with the 8 lamp unit Colo linked above. If it's only 3 or 4, go with this one:

Not generally, no. The bulbs themselves put off very, very little. The ballast will put off some heat, but not much. It's not like you're going to burn your hand on it.

It's really nothing more than a slightly overpowered fluorescent light.

The LED's on the other hand will fan 110 degree air into that tent. You don't vent it decently, your plants will fry.

What I like best about it is the accessory outlets. You can plug all your circulation, humidifier, additional side lighting right into the fixture. It's a really nice rig.

Buy a quantum 8-12 bulb t-5 badboy set-up. That's all you should need

8 bulbs in that tent is going to be way too hot you will just end up running it with half the banks off. It needed dialing in for my 2x4x5 veg tent. My closet tent runs a Sunblaze two foot (4) bulb unit and runs like a champ, it came with bulbs too couldn't beat the price:
https://www.amazon.com/ft-F24T5-HO-Fluorescent-Spectralux-Included/dp/B002JLI7VC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1472652648&sr=8-13&keywords=Sunblaze+T5

This unit only pulls like 76w at the wall on my Kill A Watt meter.
thx heat is a concern as ill be setting up in a loft that has a skylight so it tents to get a bit warmer than the rest of the house.
so if 8 bulbs will put off too much heat id rather 4 or 6.
