I have a small plant about three inches in height and is now starting to hang or bend with the wind. It just started tonight but i can already tell a little that the leafs are starting to grow away from the plant. Should it be ok to leave it all night and get something in the morning or what is the best method to pin up a plant with limited msterials. If its falling over does it mean im using too much fan or is this normal?? Also is it normal to let the top of the soil crack before watering again? Thanks

it could be bending because your lights are not above the plant. what type of lighting are you using? floro's and cfl's should be hung as close as possible to the plants tops, directly above.

moogie's method to staking plants is awesome, all you need is a straw.
cut the straw the length of the stem from the ground to the bottom set of leaves, but slightly longer, to allow you to stick it in the medium to hold it up, now cut a slit all the way down the straw, fold it back so that it's open and put it around the stem, and slightly snug it into your meduim.\

Yes i would image the fan could be blowing to close/hard but fan is also good, you want it so it dangles yor plants but not so it is blowing them over.

water when your soil is dry all the way to the bottom.

. Most plants that bend over and start to appear somewhat floppy, eventually straighten themselves out and bulk up their stems....just takes a little time.
Make sure your light is as close to plants as possible, without damaging leaves if too close.

Staking the plant as described above is a great idea, it will keep the main stem straight.....a floppy plant that is not staked will eventually straighten itself out but will have a permanent bend in the lower part of main stem..
