Using rice to dry buds?

Today I received some buds from my dude that was very wet. Disappointed, i began thinking of ways to salvage the bud because it smelled wonderful and looked like it had great potential. One of my friends mentioned using rice, which I at first thought was crazy weird. After a little while I realized it was plausible and decided to try it myself, and I must say--I am having success with it. Has anyone else tried this?

Does anyone have any good bud drying tricks?

Slow drying is always best, as long as it is not so slow that mold will grow. If the herb was never properly dried a slower method of drying would be a better choice to make. Another reason to dry slower is not all THC is psychoactive when plants are harvested. During a slow drying and curing process the non-psychoactive THC will become psychoactive .. you want that to happen. Flavor/taste will also be better after a slow dry and slow cure.

Often times fast is not best (especially when in the sack with a drunk & stoned hottie)... patience is a virtue ... remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was Syracuse.

I enjoy your enthusiasm.. I do.

I personally will chop the plants that are ready to harvest, give them a quick trimming while still fresh; hang them with hangers.. and just let the circulating air around them.. dry them.

Once the buds are dry.. and smokable.. I then give them one more once over with the snippers.. trimming only where needed..

once I'm done with going over the plant and trimming where its needed; begins the curing process.

Everyone has their own drying process.. but when it comes to curing buds.. the best/easiest way to cure them is to use mason jars.

Starting out, I'll make sure that I open the jar(s) two to three times per day.. in order to let the stank out.. and let the buds breathe in some

fresh air.. which helps keep mold away too.. as well as any fungus`iz. Also, one of the "burping" session.. I'll actually dump out the buds, and

lay them out onto a window screen, that lays ontop of a cardboard box (moving boxes).. which allows air to get around the entire bud.. helping the

bud breathe better. Usually, I'll leave them out on the screen for a good 30 minutes.. then put them back into the jars.

After the first 3 to 4 weeks of "burping" the jars.. you can kinda lay back some.. on "burping" the jars. The further they get into the curing process..

the less times the jars need to be "burped".

Usually, between 2-5 weeks worth of curing (depending on strain).. and the buds are ready. Or well, I'll let them go until they get to how I like them.

Sine I only grow 2 or 3 plants (3 max) per grow.. and I only grow for my personal enjoyment. But, usually within 3 weeks of curing.. my buds are

just right for my likings. ;)

Sorry for rambling too.. I smoke.. and I usually talk a lot when I get high/stoned. Depending on strain of course.. sometimes.. I'll smoke some strain

that puts me into "quiet" mode.. where I'm quiet.. and usually fall asleep. LOL..

anyhow, have a great weekend everyone.

peace.

lol rant on brotha. my question is I dont necessarily think this bud is DRY yet--I do have a mason jar but i'm keeping the buds in an altoid box trying to keep them dry. Should i just stick them into the jar instead? I might be confused with the curing process a little bit--:eyesmoke:

None of us can judge the level of moisture in your purchased bud so no one can say for sure if you should actually dry the bud, as in hang it if you can or place it on a screen or something, or if it is dry enough to put in jars without risking mold. You are the one who has to answer the question of which will be better in your situation.

its real shitty :( :(

which is why i'm working double time on my grow operation!! fuck dealers!!
yes that sucks g', but not all dealers are bad. you just weren't smart enough to look before you buy. or smoke before you buy? w.e one works best in that situation.

Well, I would try it this way - if it's dry enough to burn in a pipe, go ahead and jar it, and do the burping. If not, then it's still wet enough to need hanging.

It's smokable, so ill go ahead and jar it. Thanks! It's a great high and maybe its just that sticky of a bud but I feel like something isn't right..

The only way I would use rice is if I was in a humid area, and wanted to use it as a dessicant to lower the local RH. This is effective for closet and dry boxes. One could even add some salt to the rice in a dry box. but this is only if you are in some tropical miami weather, and don't have AC. Otherwise I would say dump the dealer... unless you are getting some huge marvelous deal. I refuse to
