am I able to put my 1000watt bulb into the 600s aircooled hood. right now my 1000 has a winged hood, no glass seperating bulb from plants.
using my aircooled 600watt hood with my 1000watt light bulb

it is dangerous to use a very high pressure lamp without a proper toughened glass cover, if the lamp exploded when you were out it would burn your house down, if you were looking at it at the time it could kill you or blind you.
the large glass globe is not the high pressure lamp it is the little lamp in the centre, one may never break in your lifetime but why take a chance, the cover is to protect the lamp from you, and protect you from the lamp. safety is paramount. i just bought ten sealed units with stamped safety glass. my grow room is a fire hazard. i had a brand new cd disc explode inside my laptop dvd drive and it totally demolished the drive including twisting and shattering it to bits and it damaged a piece of my laptop inside, luckily the dvd drive was surrounded by a steel chasis inside the laptop and that was a piece of plastic travelling at high speed never mind molten glass fragments.

if the bulb will fit into the socket and screw in securely, it can be used. i'll venture a guess that a 400, 600, 750 and 1000 watt bulb may be used in the same socket.
