Using light rails to double grow area? What do you think?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information about light rails so I thought I'd start a thread here.

For those of you that don't know light rails are basically rails that you attach your light to that move the light to increase coverage. (Here's a good video yo give you an idea of how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3U0YY_q_Go ) In theory this could be an amazing way to increase yields if electricity is a big factor in your grow, so here are my thoughts:

Growing SOG with clones = Lots of plants in a tight space with an even canopy then using a light rail to double the grow area whilst using half the amount of light.

So let's say you have a 240x240cm (8 feet by 8 feet) grow space. Instead of using 4 600w lights, you use 2 600w lights with 2 6feet light rails so the one light would start where the first light be then move to where the second light would be, then back again. The second light would be where the third light would be and move over to where the fourth light would be.

Now obviously I'm aware that this would reduce the yield per plant, but as long as the decrease isn't too big you would still see an overall increase in yield if you used just the two lights for a 240x120cm (8 feet by 4 feet) space.

If you put 25 plants in each 120x120cm (4 feet by 4 feet) space that would normally yield 1oz per plant, and then double your grow space with a light rail as long as the plants yield around 3/4 ounces you would have a 25% decease in yield per plant but an overall increase in yield per light by 50%. Total yield every two months would be 75 ounces instead of 50 ounces.

The main factor in all this is how much the light rail will reduce the yield per plant, maybe you only yield half in which case you have to double the amount of plants (a lot more work) and yield exactly the same. But remember that the moving light could be slightly closer and would increase light to the lower areas of plants of the plants which might compensate for the light not being present on all plants all the time.

Another factor is the potency, less constant light might mean less trichome production, but at the same time closer light with a short rest period of very little light (when the light is at the other side of the grow room) might somehow be beneficial?

I've thought about this a lot and would love to hear your ideas, I don't want to splash out on all the equipment only to find the yields are the same and potency to be decreased, that would suck.

Light movers are great for getting more even coverage in the light's footprint, but can't make a light cover a bigger area.

You sure? Not saying I don't believe you I just want to be absolutely sure, I've been racking my brain trying to come up with an idea to squeeze the most out the least amount of light and this would of been a simple solution. The only other option I know is vertical but that's a lot of time and effort to build.. Are you saying that if I went through with the grow explained in the original thread that I would not get a bigger yield?
