so you have a huge light leak but peroxide and chlorine isn't fixing your issues? do you see the irony in your logic?

OK understand that and will fix it but look at this thread... He using 1g of pool shock per Gallon i use 1g per Liter and only 0,5ml/l so it's way to underdose. When i make the math he do i have to add to my 30 liter (8gallon) 8g of Pool Shock.

Been using this on all my clone machines and all my ebb and flow reservoirs now with great success. You use 1 OZ per 5 gallons. I actually make it a lot stronger at 24 grams per gallon then only have to use a teaspoon per 5 gallons. Works very well in both systems. Works better then H202. You need to reapply every 3 days to keep bacteria at bay. You can actually use much stronger doses if you like. City water is 1-5 PPM of chorine when you add this it only raises the PPM level of chlorine less then 1/2 a PPM. Very safe and very effective. Found my PH levels to be much more stable in my larger reservoirs compared to using 2 doses of 30% H202 per week. Its doing a better job of killing the nasties :-o

Edit: what i do not understand: when his mixture is right, my Pool Shock will not survive long because 1g per Gallon Every 3 day's will empty my Pool Shock in a few months but some Pepole using this for years without Empty half the amount of Pool Shock.

instead of making a solution with the Shock, add it dry to your reservoir instead. you need a scale accurate to 0.01 grams

0.1g per 10 gallons of water is 1ppm chlorine. i believe that is based on 62% cal hypo. yours is stronger, correct? so to be on the safe side, measure out 0.2 g per 10gal water and you should be somewhere around 2.5ppms which is safe.

it should smell like a swimming pool after you add to your res. then 3 days later, add the same amount.

i think once you fix your light in the res issues, the chlorine will start to work. right now, all it's doing is trying to fight algae from growing because of the light leaks

2,5ppm? OK then i have to add another 25ml of my 1g 1liter solution to get 2,5ppm.. I have a 0,00 fine scale :)

0,1g is 0,10g what you mean? 0,1g per 10 gallon ore 0,01g per 10 gallons?

and try what i said instead: weigh out dry and add directly.

dump out your res, wipe it dry, add 10 gallons of water, add 0.20 grams of shock. mix. add nutes. adjust pH. feed.

0,10g is 100ml from my Solution it has 1g Shock on 1l RO Water so then i have to mix 100ml from it to my 5 Gallon Reservoir. I don't want to throw it away...

Yes it smells like a swimming pool ;) no i add the liquid bottle will empty the bottle first soon i will add the granules what you say sir... Let's see tomorrow how the water look.

i hope you covered all the holes from light too. if not, you'll never beat algae growth

Might be ok for a while but the pool shock will only last x amount of time, before you need to add more. The same way you keep needing to add chlorine tablets to a swimming pool etc, or the Algae or whatever will eventually come back.

Fixing any light leaks as best you can is preventitive and more proactive and will put you in a better position in the long run.

Keeping a clean rez is a war on a number of fronts, a little bit of money on gromets or other things like black/light proof pipes & hoses, and other light proofing measures is a one time thing, and will in theory lessen your need to use chemicals and make future water maintenence easier.

Best to attack the problem with a 2 point aproach, preventitive measures and then if you run into issues you can use chems, but in theory any bacterial/algae issues you run into, will be less severe and easier to deal with if you've already done the prevention stuff.

'dirty water' if nothing else will slow growth, leading to longer flowering times, therefore more electicity costs on lights, more time spent on maintenence etc.

I don't grow DWC even though I did do it once for seedlings way back in the day with a MacGyver rigged setup. But do you guys check the chlorine ppm regularly? That's probably a dumb question though, :lol:.

I can't comment on chlorine, I use hydrogen peroxide, but peroxide doesnt affect EC or PH in the doses we're talking about, and it degrades in the water over time into hydrogen and oxygen which don't affect the plants, it just kills bacteria before it degrades.

I meant testing the Cl ppm of the reservoir water.
