i bought a 3 way cfl light not knowing what 3 way meant. can i use this in a lamp with only two connectors? [i dont know the actual term for the two prongs on the end of the wire] the light is a bright effects soft white 2700k bulb. it says it is a replacement for a 50/100/150w bulb. the bulb i was using in the lamp previously was a 40w

It will run on the lowest setting, sounds like 13 actual watts. Those bulbs are designed for use in a three way fixture, its got a little knob you turn to turn it on. one click=lowest setting,2 clicks=medium setting, 3 clicks=max setting, 4=turned off again. that bulb is not worth the heat it produces, 13w or whatever it is doesnt do much, i wouldnt use a bulb lower than 23-26w. I did use one once when i made this mistake, im not sure if it was because of where it was but it died after like a week and was trash. so that combined with its low wattage makes it not worth using imo. Take it back and get some different bulbs.
