What i have is 2 tomato plants lol one is a kush variaty from seed indica looking short really huge leaves and the other kind is some sort of sativa dont really know the strain it was a flowering clone now back in vegg.

I using some miricle grow soil for each mixed with alil miricle grow perlite and some vermiculite the last time i used just mg soil and for some reason each time im noticing the stems getting red like spotted red and the last time i noticed the leaf tips appeared burnt and during flowering the plants turned purple in like solid lines going up and down the whole plant.

Any ideas as to whats going on i dont want to stunt growth and lock up nutes burn these plants real bad. i would like to catch the problem early before it affects my yeild.

the last harvest most of the leaves turned yellow and dropped before so im like wtf

Lockout. Did you check the ph of the soil? Mg is usually around 7.3-7.5 too high, water with water/nutes a ph 6.3-6.5

I'm not sure why everyone jumps to trying to adjust nutes.

I'd recommend you to moderately dilute the current solution by about 1/4 or 1/2, water once with that, wait till light pots (or preferred moisture testing methods), then water with rain water or distilled water. Repeat this until you see results, then you can slowly moderate the nutes or continue swapping the water.

I f you are using MG Soil (which has nutes already in it) and MG Perlite (which also has nutes in it) then you probaly have to many nutes. That stuff is all time release, not sure what you can do at this point.

Correct that is what im using I was gonna use fox farm ocean forest like i have before.

I have some water mixed with lil pinh of guano and some big bloom I have deluted it more and added a pinch of Epsom salt to it.

I also have some tap water with a pinch of Epsom I added laying around. I also have a couple gallons of spring water ?? should I just be flushing with that for awhile.

To the guy that says its not the mg well why is the problem the same.

wont the plant eventually use up the nutes??? dident seem to have this problem back when tried fox farms soil

I say it's not mg because many of the more experienced members use it here.. I only use mg soil 50:50 with mg perlite
the organic mg doesn't have time released nutes if for whatever reason you don't like em

yea it says .07 n .07 phosphate .07 potash on the perlite and on the mg soil it says 0,21% N, 0,07% P, and 0,14% K

Miracle Grow products contain large amounts of time released nutes. I'll bet that they're chemical nutes as well as a posed to organic. Flushing may help but won't cure the issues due to the time release formula.

I have NEVER used any soil with nutes in it.
I have never seen the need to do so.
Each and every plant is an individual living being, they need to be fed based upon their unique individual requirements.
The simplicity of using nute enriched soils negates the advantage of feeding each plant as it requires.
However IMO, MG ferts work fine...just do not mix them in my grow medium, thanks!
One size fits all is not a good idea when growing cannabis.

what do you mean one size I understand that some plants require more or less nutes ect I had a pretty good idea from the start that skipping mg soil altogether would allow me to control what it is getting like I said I started using fox farm ocean forest then some how went cheap.

I was getting a big bag cheap obviously at 7$ us for 2qt mg soil and atleast 2 stores carry It you don't have to go out of your way.

like I said I have givin it some mag water every other for the past week.

im gonna use reg tap water for a week now and see if it becomes more stable.

I have also herd that the more light you have the more your plants can use up nutes so I was thinking of getting a 400w hps maybe that will help out somewhat I have the chance to pick up a dual ballast wing hood light setup for just a grant that's alil less then half of brand new comes with both bulbs mh and hps don't know only thing I don't know is if its a digital ballast and I also don't know the hours on the bulbs.

Right now I only have about 145watts 65w in cfl and 80 in floro so that wont get me more then zip per plant.

Shit has nutes already, stop adding more! Try this...

If potting mix (its thick, and heavy as fuck and stays wet too long, add a fuck-load of perilite to it, to get the thing to drain right.) Feeds up to 3 months, So when you re-pot for flower in a bigger pot, dont do a fucking thing other than PH the water, go low, like lower 6's.

Moisture control (the kind that prevents under/over watering, has been great for me, try to mimic its draining effect, get some.) Feeds up to 6 months, So you dont need to touch this at all with any nutes, what so ever... Start - finish, If your rocking plants longer than 6 months in the same soil, Wait till the plant starts to starve before adding nutes, and if this is so, its either a mother plant, or a gargantuan fucker, which can take a licken and keep ticken.

Also, people who say no to miracle grow, take it like this, I have a very experienced soil grower I have as a co worker at my job, who was legit cali, etc etc. The words "hard to top miracle grow" came out of his mouth, when I talked about my trials with other more "premium soils" such as foxfarm, blah blah blah. Hell I had clones of the same shit, one in FFLW, then FFOF... The other was in MG, moisture control the whole run... Guess which one was twice as big?

The don't go MG argument is just like the "just say no to drugs"... Obviously you are already against the grain, lol.

well let me ask you this since I have already went with miracle grow and I used about 60% of a bag of mg perlite and I also used a bunch of vermiculite in both would a better light system help???

Mg is fine just dont add food till you see deficiency point blank period its seriously not as difficult as people make it... if the dirt feeds for six months just ph the watet and load a bowl when its done.
