My friend grows in Ohio and US Marshalls showed up at his place looking for a fugitive. A female that lives in the house is in the middle of a domestic violence case. They were about to bust the door in and the only person home let them in and they searched every inch of the house. He said they definitely saw the grow room. There is a grow in the basement 13 plants in a 10x5 area. They didn’t find the person and quickly left. He’s freaking out about what to do with the plants now. He’s 30 days into flowering

I mean I doubt the marshalls are going to do anything themselves if they didnt already... but will they tell the locals that's the hard question.

Federal Marshalls, a currently-ongoing domestic violence case, and a larger-than-personal grow operation?

You'd almost think that it'd be a no-brainer as to what to do, given the extreme likelihood that the authorities will return at some point or another.

Again... looking for a wanted fugitive, and an open domestic violence case. Something is awry at that residence.

If they cared about the weed at all it seems they would have at least chopped them and came back later to charge you. Personally I don't think they care about the weed. Although......................one of my friends that used to go to Ohio a lot always called it the communist state of Ohio, so what do I know.

Federal marshals don't look for domestic violence offenders. They look for federal fugitives.
My understanding after reading the OP was that the two items are mutually exclusive, meaning the federal fugitive search is unrelated to the ongoing domestic case.

If that's not enough heat on your premises to get rid of anything illegal, I don't know what is. Domestic violence is very often repeated. They should be expecting further police visits.

The US Marshalls move slowly, but they have so much authority and their laws are so obscured compared to state laws, they are almost unstoppable.... It does seem unlikely they would be involved in any domestic case, but could if it involved something serious, like a kidnapping or body being transported across state lines.

It really doesn't matter at this point as far as the plants, as they have their evidence. Your friend might as well keep on growing, and save about 50k for an attorney...oh yeah, the Feds have about a 99% conviction rate, so he should start praying... a lot.

IDK what the laws are in Ohio...that certainly matters. They have bigger fish to fry these days, and that might be his savior.

To be honest, in my opinion if they were gonna do something, you’d already be under arrest. After the federal courts in California ruled that state laws supersede federal on MJ, I wouldn’t worry about it, but that’s me. And that’s easy for me to say from my seat. Depends on what your freedom is worth to you, I suppose.

After watching the documentary:rolleyes: Justified, I've learned the US Marshalls can do anything they want, anytime they like, but they usually don't mind weed. Just don't let the Bennetts know you are growing.

Seriously, get that shit out of the house. Or just hope:dunce:. Don't come on here looking for sympathy after a bust though.

At a mountain house we had a few years back. One of my buddies had a bad experience with some L and the cops ended up showing up because he was freaking. They saw the room but didn’t say a word.

Two days later they raided us and shut down the garden.

What ended up being the punishment?

They certainly use to care about weed...Me and about 20 buddies were all indicted by the US Marshalls on conspiracy smuggling weed charges and all but 1 were sentenced...and not one of us got caught with even a seed. But this was years ago and i think with all the heroin, meth, etc. these days, they have their hands full...and a little 5'x 10' grow is probably not worth their time...But I suspect they would turn it over to local police.

Marijuana is still considered a narcotic under federal laws, so the local cops would be a lot easier on him.

that's what happened to a buddy of mine....a RCMP cop seen a fresh bud sitting on the dash of his car, but didn't charge him.... but the cop did informed the local police on what he saw......a week latter the local cops raided his house
