I am not sure exactly what pest this is but I have to figure it out, something tells its not fungus gnats, jnless they are babies... they are very small, I barely can see with the naked eye and they are all running around in front of my grow tent I don't know if they are inside, I had the doors open so I assume.. But they seemed lost, they can jump and are fast... I made a veg area in the garage :( mistake? Fuck dudes, I have plants ready to go into flower but I'm not bringing them in the bloom room.... Help!!!!! Fuck help!!! Always something...

Man sounds like springtails especially how you describe the "trying to fly" and it looks like them in the pics as well. Time to hit them with pyrethrin. If you use bondie brands be careful with their pyrethrin it burned one of my plants last time I used it. I was told by a way more experienced grower than I that when you get close to the bottom of the sprayer add more water and that's where I went wrong the last plant I hit got burned bad. Well gl chewy.

Btw how did you get that little fucker to pose for the pics? Ha!

I will google more pocs as the ones tou guys privided are a little different i think, It was hard to get a shot, they are fast as fuck, but I got a retarded one that was slower... Lol... There were a bunch of them on the concrete in front of the tent and they were also searching it seemed like for somewhere to go... Hopefully they didn't make it up the 4 inche lip at the base of the tent... I sprayed bleach all over the concrete (all I had) last night...

Sounds like they eat fungus so they will be in your soil soon enough I really don't know if they hurt the roots my guess would be given enough time they will cause damage. We use tanlin sometimes for fungus gnats but its expensive and from what I was told its ground up diatomaceous earth so maybe just go with the diatomaceous earth.

Also sounds like they start outside and migrate in when food source is found maybe watch the bastards and see if you can find an entry point.

they are different sizes and colors so they may not look just like the links provided.

If they are spring tails, they can't fly and will not damage your plants. I have never had an issue with these before in Colorado.

If they are thrips the adults can fly and both adults and larvae will eat the shit out of your plants. Thrips are the only bugs that I have had in Colorado. If you grow in soil or soil-less you really need to watch for these.
You can get them in potting soil and nurseries sometimes get thrips and will sell you plants with these bastards. They are really bad. Some are even immune to Spinosad. You will be able to tell if you plants have thrips as they will start to look like shit.

I think thrips are a little different orrange? , I couldn't tell six legs or not....they can't fly they just seemed to hop no more than a few inches.... Is DE bad for plants or soil?

it soaks up a shit ton of water turns into a white gummy paste if you get all crazy w it ....... its definately not bad for soil tho......... i would sprinkle it all around the outside of that tent and on the floor inside ...a little sprinkle on top the pot ......... then put a pan of water outside the garage

Def not thrips I just fought thrips and they are a bitch to get rid of or at least the ones I had we're and they are amber colored. I am sticking to spring tails can you get anymore pics?

DE won't harm the plant I hear folks use it for fungus gnats and any other soil dwelling pest as it works on the exoskeleton and kills the pests. After my reading today I am going to get some DE tonight for the outdoor girls. Also read that DE must be dry to properly work so watering it in is no good. I am going to try top dressing my soil tomorrow.

If you end up getting (DE) any on your leaves, DON'T worry, just take your plant and mist them with water until it drips clean. I use it outside to keep ants and hoppers at bay and I sprinkle it ALL over my plants and soil. Have never seen any issues from getting any on the leaves/plants :peace:

To prevent the DE from turning into a thick paste, I would make sure the plant (leaves) is dry. For the soil it doesn't really matter, I usually put down a layer of DE before AND after I water my plants :mrgreen: .

Also if you have pests that hang out under the leaves, I found using an empty catchup/condiment bottles (the 'old school' ones, twist top with a nubbin, not the new Heinz type) with a little DE in it gets a nice and fine powder 'mist' (DON'T inhale!!! please have a breathing mask when dealing with the 'mist'). I found bugs on my outdoor strawberries and wasn't able to get the DE to hit them until I used a bit in a bottle. I also left them covered in DE for the day to make sure every last one of those B* had enough, then watered early the next morning.

Again, DE will not harm any part of the plant, and can only harm humans when inhaled. All it does for the plant is add some silica to the soil and help 'kill' bugs. By 'kill' bugs, it actually cuts into the exoskeleton and slowly dehydrates them :peace:

I have no idea what that is but I had a stink bug infestation in my attic grow room last fall so used Talstar pro but that stuff made my heart beat fast from the fumes.

I also hung nuvan pest strips and spread D.Earth powder. There wasnt a live bug in site all winter. Dont let these uninvited fuckers share your favorite space.

You've got to mean business though and you dont need to spray your plants with chemicals although I do need a respirator this year lol.

I have the same bug and they are almost imposible to kill. Believe these are WFT (Western Flower thrip). Bombs, Spinosad, Nukum not able to control or eliminate. It will kill the adults but more hatch a few days later to start the cycle again. Have also found a round brown tiny slug like thing that might be an crawling stage or something.

Have up'd the anti to DE, Azatrol, Spinosad in 4 gallon spray'er, and bombs. They jump (hop), climb and fly back to the ground to climb and lay more eggs. Going to update the bugs thread Thrips because they must mature in the leaf and not the soil. Had a clone just sitting in water isolated from all others and they appeared in the water as adults.(up to 4 weeks later) No soil around to harbor pest so they are coming out of the leaves.(hatching)

They suck royal donkey wang. Suckle out the juices from the leaves as the mature into adults. Research has shown that spraying and soil soak necessary to control.
They did not say they could be eliminated only controlled. There are also preditor bugs as an option.
Almost might be worth starting over from scratch they suck that bad.
