Update on aeroponics grow, with trimming question

Well I was having nute problems too, honestly I am 99% sure it's your ph level. I went into the chat room and dragon puff told me that hydro and aero need to run a lower PH, It shouldn't go above 5.2 . I lowered my ph to 5.0 and my plants literally exploded with growth. Try putting your ph at 5.0 and seeing what happens. Also I watched a bunch of grow video's and the guys said that you should flush your plants with just pure water a couple times during flower (they were using soil though), but I don't see how this could hurt your plant's if they are having lockout. It just might make your flowering last a week longer, but if they are stunting I don't know how this would matter anyway.

*edit*
I added this after reading the last post. I use LED's, and I love it. My plant's are sativa's and monster's. The fan leaves are like 8 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. They look like they belong in a jungle. I honestly can't even see the power usage in the bill. Here is what I use.

https://www.prosourceworldwide.com/

They are like $20 more then other brands, but they are made in the USA and the LED's are excellent. They are a lot more intense then you would expect, The first time I turned it on I felt high and walked into a wall. When buying make sure that you get 1w LED's and at least a triband spectrum preferably a 5 band spectrum. You probably also will want to add some supplemental lighting I use a cheap $15 grow light for half the day. I will try to put up some pic's if you want to see what my grow looks like.

Thanks for the info.

I just checked on the girls today and the yellowing issue is gone.

I have been using the calmag and we are doing another water change to start week three tomorrow.

Our PH has been pretty nailed at 5.8%, but maybe we will lower it. Any other opinions on that?

I am thinking that the LED's are really the way to go. With just two lights, our usage is about $300 a month. If I wanted to work for the DWP I would fill out an application.

pix please.

Ok, our clones were sitting in the cloner a little too long, does that cause the leaves to widen?

Anyway, here they are:

Looking much, much better.

Have you been giving them calmag?

Edit: Also note that ph 5.8 isn't bad. The range of tolerance for cannabis is 5.2-6.5. The ph could fluctuate depending upon which nutrients they're absorbing. As long as you don't let it get below 5.2 or rise above 6.5, you're good.

OK, we are now in the third week of flowering and we once again had a nutrient issue. Last week we were at a combined 850 ppm of nutrients and water residuals. 550 ppm grow/micro/bloom -- 120 ppm calmag -- 130ppm kool bloom and our plants looked like this:

20111207_123233.jpg20111207_123246.jpg20111207_123255.jpg20111207_123255.jpg20111207_123357.jpg20111207_124151.jpg

I went into scramble mode and Lowered the nutrient to 450 ppm for the the grow/micro/bloom -- 100 ppm calmag -- 100 ppm kool bloom

I also added another product called drip clean. I was told that there is a good chance that I am starting to get salts build up at this point in my grow.

The plants started to respond, but I am still getting some clawing. Here are some pictures, but the damn camera screwed the color balance up.

It's hard to see, but the color looks better. Clawing killing me. The ph is perfect, as is the water temp.

don't know.

Well damn, you have great vigor. Look at the size of those bushes... But the clawing. What has your PH been?

I think your ppms are a bit low after you lowered it.

I would love to do anything I can to assist you in solving this problem, but in order to do so, I would need every single detail from beginning to now... leaving out nothing... not even the slightest detail.

Are you running 1000watters? How tall are you growing your plants?
If you're not growing monsters, and keeping them under 3 feet or so, you could probably get away with running 600's. Get em nice and close in vented hoods. I dont know that LEDs can really penetrate.

Hey guys,

I am back after a little break from the site. Things have evened out on the grow. I have learned a lot and feel like I finally understand where the problems were coming from.

We have kept our ph at 5.8. We dropped our water temp to 66f. And we raised our room temp to 82f.

We dumped the smaller vented hoods and got adjust-a-wings, which spread out the light much better and eliminated the push of grow in the middle.

We also put a net above the grow and moved everything around, so that the light was getting everywhere. It is amazing how much of a difference that makes. Large areas of sickly looking plants have bounced back amazingly. You can see in the pictures that some of the plants look kind of scraggly, but if you look, you will see that it is all old damage. All the new leaves look pretty damn good.

We are in the middle of week 10 of flower. I didn't really get a good picture, but the buds are starting to fill in pretty good. I have some slight edge browning, but I think that is because of the heat from the open lights.

Trying right now to figure out how long to continue flowering. Also someone mentioned that bat guano was good for the final rinse week.
