Hope everyone is well during the covid19 pandemic

I have recently gone out and purchased some discobiscuit regular seeds from ugorg, now i am on the hunt for a female out of the 10 seeds...(touch wood) now i know all i need to know on how to pop etc. The only bit im struggling with is understanding pollenation. I was going to pop all 10 seeds and leave them all together in my propagation tent but if i do by chance manage to get a female will the other 9 if there male polenate the female
While in veg? Apologies if this doesnt make any sense

Any help much appreciated :D

Males won't pollinate a female in veg. You need to switch to 12/12 to initiate flower. Then you'll be able to identify the males and females. If you're goal is to make seeds then yes you can leave them all together and do an open pollination.

That’s pretty much how it works even if in the wild. If you get that many males the breeder sucks.

I don't think the breeder has much control on the ratio of males to females. It should be roughly 50/50 but it's like gambling. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I've popped 5 packs of regs from the same breeder and have gotten 4 males in one and 4 females in another. Fortunately for me I got at least 1 male and 1 female out of each because my goal was to make seeds. I would have been bummed to have gotten either 5 females or 5 males. As it stands I was able to take 5 seeds and turn those into hundreds of those strains.

Bought a pack of 10 regular “pre-98 Bubba” from Greybeard. Got 10 hermies. I haven’t had 10 hermies total in years of growing. The breeder had to know something.

I was referring to regular seeds and the male to female ratio. But 10 out of 10 herming is not good. That sucks. I wouldn't be very happy.

I would never use underground again, had a 10 pack of old-timers, not 1 popped never had that problem before and haven't since

Are you talking about Old Timers Haze from ACE? If so I've had 100% success with those seeds. But I got mine from Sensible Seeds and they do a huge amount of volume and store their seeds properly. I only buy seeds from well know seedbanks for those reasons.

I was referring to regular seeds. I only grow using regulars. I’m always prepared to have at least half be male. But 70% or more is unacceptable to me personally.

Nope ugorg(underground) breeds oldtimers

Yes because its a very sensitive strain and will stress easy, some ugorg strains are not your easy type modern chucked stuff or bred for the same market.

The goals to filter the females for flower and get rid of the males. I just didnt want to put them together on a 24 cycle for the males to potentially polenate the females

So if there safe together then thats brilliant i can take the females out when ready and hopefully get some succulent fruits :)

Only reason i purchased is because i have only read positive things on the breeder. Once or twice something bad but overall good quality stuff

Time will tell as running discobiscuit and eventually there footloose

Oh I see. I thought you wanted to make seeds. But yes they're safe until the males show. You'll have ample time to remove them before they pollinate the females.

Been after some ugorg for a while, missed the ugorg#1 f2 as I don’t have the Bitcoin thing but managed to snag a pack of no name.
Hopefully it’s nice, did no name from medical seeds years ago that was good so we’ll see!!
