UBER App: The Politics Of Good, Mean Fun..

so last week, i needed to use them and opened their app to see what type of ETA there would be ie; how many drivers were in my area and how long it would take for them to get me to my destination.

well, as it happens (although i didn't know at the time) they have a new customer tracking system they launched this week which they advertised on radio. 'never miss your uber driver again'..

apparently when you open the app and put your location in, it alerts drivers in the area that there is a potential rider to be picked up. it gives them the address too even though you're just looking and haven't ordered the ride.

so i'm still getting ready and the guy calls me about 15 minutes later. identifies himself as my uber ride. told him i didn't order and wouldn't be ready for at least another 10 minutes. he gets all pissy and says he was already outside my door waiting for 10 minutes.

so he had the ability to cancel the ride which he did..software asked why..it had 8 different options pre-loaded and i chose 'ETA too long'. the guy tried to charge me $6 and then once i chose the reason for cancel trip (which i didn't order) he BLOCKED me for the whole day from uber.

so i went to lyft:finger:

the good mean fun..when you open the app they are notified and like sharks sniffing blood they circle your area location..all of a sudden they stop and start driving in these little tight circles or keep turning a corner or doing a u-turn at each light..try it! you'll see..have fun!

Well, the problem is that Uber drivers make pretty much nothing, so Uber's answer for that is to give drivers more tools in an already cut-throat line of work to enable them to chase down fares and make more money.

All it's going to wind up doing is weirding out their customers and piss drivers off even more.

That's what happens when your average driver makes 4 bucks an hour. They'll do ANYTHING (and are) to make another buck.

Since I have a nice car, all the drunks in the neighborhood come asking for rides. I have a flat rate; 5 bucks for a ride to the beer store, 10 bucks for a ride to town.

These companies are the worst and the poor people trying to make a living are being lied to and taken advantage of. These poor people are basically taking the equity out of their cars to survive and in the end are no better off and left with a worn out car.
Yet our entire legal system is devoted to the welfare of Uber and other major corporations who already have all the bargaining power over those who would work for them, rather than those literally starving while trying to earn a living.

I wonder how much further Americans can be pushed before they revolt in large ways and small.

It's happened before in America on several occasions. Apparently we can't seem to slay this monster of exploitation of our fellows for profit.

Wow, when that gets out, no one will ever use uber from their home again. That's unbelievable that they would give out the address before you call for a ride!

yup. privacy violation. it's on the radio..'never miss your uber driver again'. prolly their website too..frankly, it's getting a little cutthroat for my liking AND those fvckers never gave me back my $6 even though they said they would.

you can't back out of the app, they have the ability to charge you/lock you out if there's an issue.

there were literally 8-10 cars all within a quarter mile just waiting 7AM..i was wondering why they were driving like that..doing u-turns and tight circles in the publix parking lot..do they have to keep moving?

Sounds like, just how you don't know how to vote, you also don't know how to use Uber. You have to place the order for pickup before your address is known. You like attention even if it is negative...WHY ?

and most don't speak english and have to use a translator. one time an idiot took me to the airport, spoke no english and we ended in the shipping area on the other side of the airport and the guy is looking at me like 'here you are'..i'm like 'no dude, can't you see this is the cargo area not for passenger travel' and had to use translator to talk to him.

that ride sucked..had to jackass everywhere and i'm sure i was charged, stupid shit.

Find a local taxi service and give them your money. That's what I do. I get great service and the money stays in the local economy.

Sounds like you're just here to dump all over people.

It must be terrible to be such an awful human being.
