Two flowering questions.

First, is this a male flower forming? It's a young plant that went into 12/12 on the 9th.

Second, about how much longer before peak ripeness? My projected harvest date is the 25th. The strain is white widow and it started flowering on Nov. 26.

I'm guessing that's going to be a male, but man, that preflower is just a hair to small to be sure. Wiat 2-3 days, and we'll be sure. As for the maturity...it looks like there's sill some clear trichs in that pics, but there's also lots of brown pistils, so I'd guess that the 25th will be really close to perfection. Plus, I know you're going to be impatiently waiting, so I say go ahead. Of couse, the only way to know for sure is to look at those crystals under magnification, and check to see if they are starting to turn amber. Most people harvest when they start seeing a few amber trichs, like around 5% or so. Depends on the buzz you're looking for. More amber = more 'couchlock' and opiate-like, and less = more cerebral and creative.

I'm assuming all pics are from the same plant or at least a flowering plant. I have ones where the female flower looks the same all the way thru because it does not receive enough light.

I think it is a mistake to ever set a target date for harvest. You gotta respect each plant as an individual. it will be ready when it is ready and all you can do is watch closely for it to tell you when that is. You can try to put it on a schedule, but it's just your schedule not the plant's.

Awesome, thank you very much. :)

That's about what I was thinking but wanted a more experienced opinion. The flowering plant is a white widow. I'm looking for a balanced high for my first time.

The first plant is a young plant that just started flowering on the 9th. I've read that the male plants tend to grow faster and taller. This is the tallest and fastest growing out of five. The next tallest looks like it's getting the same nubs. Two of the shorter ones have some white hairs.

I can agree with that. The 25th is my projected date because the 21st is eight weeks from when it started flowering. I'm cool with it taking longer if that's what it takes. I'm in it for the quality.

Yea what he said, i would say the time they give you is usually the bare minimum, most of the time you have to add on a week or 2, all depends on the environment.

That looks like its going to be male, but wait and see, you have plenty of time to figure it out.:leaf:

Looks like it's going to be a female or a hermie because there are a lot of white hairs near the top and some pods that look suspicious. Three of my other young plants had nicely developed grapes when I looked this morning so I cut them down. Looks like I have a sativa and an indica.

I think that white widow just might be done in a week. I just found out that I can zoom on macro and took some more pictures yesterday. I attached a pic. My wife said she wants more of a couch lock since we've been smoking a lot of heady stuff lately. When's a good time to harvest WW for that without getting too over ripe?
