Twin Mother CFL Speaker Cabs

Here is a tangent to my previous thread https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/129428-seedling-clone-tub.html and where the seedlings will eventually end up as soon as the air flow and lighting is worked out in these boxes as well. test plant in the soil box for now is a tomato plant.

Here are the pictures.

Basement temp on the cement floor in the winter is keeping it cool right now, I will be placing a PC fan and passive intake in it after I determine exactly how to do it and keep it looking like the rest of the junk in the basement.

Stay tuned for plant development in this box as well as my flowering box yet to come! That is the one I am most excited about.

By the way everybody, don't want to buy mylar at the grow shop? Buy it at Party Warehouse or any party supply place. Go to the section with bags and look for the bag stuffing. Mylar should be there.

Never put more than one plant in one pot/ container! Other than that things look good

Tom :peace:

Thanks Tom, those are tomato plants that are just there for testing. The tomato plant really belongs to my fiance and kids.

Thanks for stopping by!

I have extra mylar so I'm going to finish it all the way to the bottom in mylar. I would never have believed that one 100W equivalent CFL could shine so bright.

Pictures to be posted soon and maybe some rockwool in the DWC later tonight also. I gotta do something to keep the poor plants alive and I'm not around enough to keep them moist.

I'm going to go back to Root Riot Organic starter cubes. Those were so much easier than rockwool and much cleaner than dirt.

The tomato plants earned an upgrade.

Ok on to the smaller boxes:

I drilled holes in the front of the box, forgot to take the picture of it.

Air goes in through the front and passes through the fans on the top of the box. They are 115V fans with a speed control knob.

The weakest link...

Show me some love, questions comments or concerns are all welcome. I'm just flushing the weak plant in soil with water right now because it seems like he has a N problem from the MG mix. I foliage feed daily all of the plants.

wats going on man, from what i see in the dwc...it looks as if the rockwool is too wet. Either you need to lower the res solution amount to were it barely sprinkles the bottom or raise the rockwool up and put some more clay balls underneath it to raise the rockwool. I used to have the same problems when I first started off. I was basically drowning em cause the cubes stayed too damp. Try that and it should help, it promotes root growth! And that one scraggly looking one, just foliar feed it water for a couple of days and let it perk up a lil. It looks a lil burnt. But all in all ur not looking too bad. Nice innovative thinking building ur own stuff, I did the same and built my own rubbermaid setup.

I changed the res out today and topped the soil plants that needed topping. The fun is about to begin. I'm going to try and keep the mother plants manageable in shape and size. Basically I want to take clones every 7 or 8 days by taking clones from one plant, then the next plant 7 or 8 days later. That is if it turns out there are multiple females. Otherwise every 14 to 16 days to take clones would be nice for the first cycle and maybe I can turn a clone into a mother plant and then do the offset of 7 to 8 days thing. That would be my goal on the SoG I'm trying to achieve here. Hence the two boxes that are highly adaptable and my clone tub. I plan to be taking clones in 7 or 8 days from today. So next Saturday or so. Then placing the clones in 12/12 to determine sex and go from there. I may end up with two or three or more mothers depending on how much pruning I am willing to submit my mothers to. The goal is two big mothers, one in each box. I want to setup 4 healthy clones per 7 to 8 day period to veg for a week in my clone tub then straight to 12/12. This will keep the crop size manageable for my space needs and produce a revolving harvest every week after all the kinks have been worked out.

Ok, so before I change the tubs nutrients tomorrow I decided to re-top since my last attempt made no good progress.

Here are the tops:

This plant is showing some nutrient lockout but is still producing healthy new growth:

That is my update today...

So far the boxes are working great, I'm thinking of getting some rubbermaid tubs for more vegging space for clones.

Love it hate it, let me know what you think. This is not a grow journal and posting of ideas/comments is well appreciated.

Thanks for the comment and for stopping by, I had that on the back of my mind this whole time and have been too lazy to paint it yet.

Love the hiding spot but I got a question, Do you have your plants where the roots can sit in the water 7/24?
I made the same thing except added a container under it, same size for water only.
Just wondered if I was thinking wrong here or do you want your roots in water all the time? New to Hydro.....questions, questions!!

Wrap the water tank in silver duct tape, keeps light out and reflects back to the bottom of the plants.

Thanks for the comments and for stopping by SlowToker!

The plant roots love oxygenated water. These small tubs here are just for this small veg stage of growth for my momma plants, when they get older I'm putting the best hydro plant in one 5gal bubbler to be my perm mom (provided it sexes a female in a few weeks. Leave your air stone pumping for 24 hours a day and your plants will love it. The hydro plant I have has already nearly caught up to the soil plants that are a week older.

I might eventually. They are not going to be staying in here permanently. I'm still playing with the setup and tinkering here and there.

Some more pics with a few updates.

Today I took the pictures without a foliar feeding, so they look a bit more clear.
