Trying to save a plant

Hey all, so little thing my neighbor has going....

He has this 7 foot tall plant in his backyard, its nice got some pink buds flowering out maybe 3 weeks into flower, definitely a hard sativa strain. Anyway he's been holding off on his landlord coming to visit because hes scared his landlord isn't going to approve. He said i can take care of the plant by throwing it in my backyard, only problem is it's in the ground. Is there anyway we can dig this up and repot it without causing to much stress and without causing recovery time to take her into the first frost? Usually the beginning weeks of October. If so how do i go about? And if pulling her out of the ground isn't an option, anything else we can go to save it? He said he doesn't even know if he can have her hold of for another week so it's gotta be quick. Thanks for the help

A fool's errand to try to relocate a mature flowering plant. It will never recover fully. If at all.
Basically the answer i was looking for. I went over there yesterday and took and look at it and told him he can either chop it or tell his landlord it's a weed plant. Somewhere in the back of my mind i thought maybe i can dig that up

If he's in a legal state I'd leave it. The most the property owner can do is ask him to get rid of it. If not a legal state then I'd get rid of it.
We're in a legal state. I don't know much about the legal ways. You don't think she can just kick him out for growing it?

If he's in a legal state and is legal to grow I don't think she can do anything other than ask him to get rid of it. Unless it's stated on the lease or rental agreement that he can't grow weed on the property she can't evict him. At least in Oregon you need cause for eviction. But if your friend has any doubt and is worried he should save himself the stress and chop it down. Take some clones and move on.

its funny cause i'm recently in a similar situation. my landlord said he'd be stopping by later this week. haven't seen him in like a year. i live in a legal state. check to make sure that if you're in a legal state, that you're in a city that allows personal grows outdoor. pretty sure that if you are, and there is nothing in the lease about growing weed, he is in the clear. if i had a weed plant in my backyard and my landlord told me i had to get rid of it i would do the same thing i did when a landord told me i had to get rid of my bbq. say "ok sure." and then next time when he comes say "ok sure yeah i forgot". and i'd try to keep that going as long as i could haha.

We are in Nevada. As far as i know it's only legal to grow, if you are not within 25 miles of a dispensary. And same you have to have a reasonal cause to evict someone. You think i can take clones that far into flower?

I kinda told him he shouldn't really worry the most she can say is get rid of it. I don't think she'd kick him out just for that but he wants to play it safe. It's just such a nice plant I'd hate to see it go to waste

I just checked local laws and the 25 miles does apply. Also it is illegal to grow in an open space. It must be an inclosed space and it must have a lock on either the green house or tent or cabinet etc. Also illegal to openly grow outdoors. So i don't know what to tell him

Tell him to chop it down before the landlord calls the cops and he gets a ticket and a fine.

You can take clones that late into flower. If they root it will take them awhile to reveg. Some people purposely take them at that stage. It's called monster cropping.

Clone the entire thing including the top. Older plants - scrape the tough outer layer of the part of the stem you'll be using cloning gel on. Strongly suggest Mykos as a second dip before planting . But scrape the outer layer off gently with the edge of a knife.

If i plan to clone I'm gonnna be throwing them into my tent. So if i take clones at this stage, am i better off revegging it or continuing with the flower stage? Also I've cloned before with no luck, or it was no patience. Either way should i throw them straight into soil?

Yeah I'll let him decide. Idk why he threw them into the ground and not a pot. If lets me clone hopefully im successful

So growing up with family that has lots of rental houses i know too much about what the tennants can and cant do. Since its legal the land lord cant say shit. But if they arent ok with it, they will look for any and every reason to evict or not allow for a new lease. If the land lord is cool just talk to them. Keep everything clean and tidy (outside too), have minimal traffic, and pay bills on time. Thats all most land lords want. I cant stress the importantance of paying everything on time!! If its really a huge deal try to put up a tarp or something to block the plant from being seen. Ive done lots of house inspections on behalf on the landlord. All we look for is damage and the general condition of the house/property. One tennant was breaking down a pound in the basement when i came by to look around (they looked terrified). Told the landlord and he didnt care because he never got complaints from the neighbors and the tennant paid everything on time.

Sorry that was so long, hopefully it helps
