trying to cover a 4x4

Im making the jump to led. not tossing out my par t5 though just utilizing both. i have 600 to spend. I was planning on grabbing a 16 bulb t5. but the aquarium bulbs at best for the 660nm range hit a lil over 40% and have some wasted green. until wave point and uvl eventually come out with their new bulbs.... the leds have a much higher 660nm range.

so anyway i need to be able to cover a 4x4 pretty good. so will a pg400 do that or 2 pg180's or a pg180 and a pg260. or maybe 2 pg 260's ( cant really afford that) ?

i was also looking at the htg 432 watt led but they are sold out and i cant find any journals or reviews on them..

hps sucks. i used hps for over 10 years. too much heat, too much electricity. and too much wasted light. i got similar results from 432 watt t5 with reef and freshwater bulbs compared to 1000 watt with hortilux. i did the side by side comparison 4 times. that made get rid of the hps. the only benefit of hps is coverage area. other wise its ancient technology. plants don't use 90% of the light hps puts out.

for area the 1000 watt yielded 10% more than the t5 on 2 batches and pulled the same on other 2 batches. but the t5 produced much much better quality and way more frosty and sticky.

Try again dude.

this is the spectrum plants use

action%2520spectrum%2520en.jpg

this is the spectrum of a hortilux 1000 watt. notice all the wasted light between 500nm and 600nm

why dont you read a book then try again

high blues and uv help with co2 absorption, terpene production(thc, cbd, trichomes)

high 660nm reds produce the larger flowers.

all the green and yellow plants only use 20 % of. so hps lights up a room more than it does anything for a plant. that is fact,

I dont need to read a book. There is no way in hell you out produced a 1k HPS with an 8 bulb T5.

go to my journal or read the led without leds thread. its already been done and proven time and time again. im sick of having to say this over and over

not having to read a book is ignorant. i get all my grow info from universities. im not using stock 3000k or 65000k bulbs. im using aquarium bulbs to create a high par spectrum. that is 80% closer to what the sun puts out than any hps,

any way can anyone answer my question/ in the first post

thats just ignorant. so you only learn what you see, you dont try to gain any other knowledge to improve your grow and get the most out of it, thats just dumb. do you come on to an led thread to bash.

I am not bashing LEDs at all. I am bashing the fact that you said HPS sucks and you can outgrow a 1k with T5s.

$600, eh? You're going to want about 600W for a 4x4 area... less for vegging, but for flowering you're going to want at Least 500W....

The PG 180 will cover about a 1.5 x 2.5 foot space. The PG 400 maybe 2 x 2.5 foot space. I have both and I do sog. Maybe 2 PG 400s will cover a 3 x 3 foot area. This is with the light about 12 inches above the plants.
Just my opinion.

On te hydrohut site they have a video of the pg400 in a 5x3 tent and the tent is pretty full. Some of the buds look like a good size. I think the light is 25" away.

I'd get a true 400-500w in that space to maximize results. I believe HH used a PG-400 in a 4x4 with a light mover and got excellent results. I want a light mover :p Bigv....not to hate or anything, but this thread is about him getting advice on a light panel....if they are comparable or not to a 1k HPS harvest, who the fuck cares lol, he seems to be confident about his growing methods.

PG-400 is only 240w...I would recommend more for a 4x4.
