Yeah, good point on the empty room.. I guess you can say that all of a sudden your 'roommate' moved out. Anyway, yeah, you should probably move into a house, I know, stupid advice, but, I almost moved into a place earlier this year until the guy said they do random checks for heater vents/smoke detectors/etc. every 90 days. I didn't want to risk trying to time it in between harvests (how much fun would that be to try to get right logistically?), so I just kept looking for another place. It took an extra month, but the place I am at now is great, private owners, and they never hassle me. Oh, yeah, private owners as opposed to property management places are the way to go, as well.. Just a few tips to keep in mind when you're looking for your next place.. WHile your looking at the house, might as well check the breaker box to see if it has a 50 amp breaker (more than 1 I guess, since you need one for the stove), and all that jazz... Gotta make sure you got enough juice to power your grow. Made that mistake too, and ran into a couple hurdles there.. Good luck, man...

Im not sure what I am going to do yet.. I live in norcal and they just did a sprinkler inspection not too long ago. it was a diff guy but he just said he would make a note of it and that was that.

Im thinking there is about a 30 percent chance he will want to come back and check it out because i got a note that says they changed the batteries and it was our responsibility to check it n test it and report anything in writing blah blah.. he is either going to write down that it needs to be checked and we will get a letter in a week trying to schedule a time to check it out or he will be expecting me to leave a key and not worry too much about it... not quite sure yet.

i really dont wanna break it all down because i really dont have anywhere to move it, no furniture to put in there etc.. I am thinking if we get a letter ill just tell em that we are letting the room be used as storage for my cousin and will be back in a couple weeks, then i can move it as far into the corner as possible and just stack a bunch of boxes and shit in front of it, let him get in, get out and whatnot.. the pots are at a tilt and have hydroton so i dont wanna move em and break the roots n chit.. sux.

they cant give me a 24 hour notice to inspect it again because if they do they will just come back to a locked door. i got my story and im stickin to it LOL..

i know it is something to worry about but this place is like corporate apartments and they take weeks to file letters and reports n shit, they dont just come pop in to say whats up.

anyways what do you guys think?

I dunno man.. Good luck on stalling them out.. I mean, what can they say if your roommate is on vacation and the door is locked, right?

thats what I am thinking... i mean i already told them i checked and tested it, which i am willing and capable of doing. plus i dont think they would take the time and effort to have a locksmith come out and open it just to check it.. if anything i think the worst they could do is continue to hassle me every few weeks about it.. i mean hell renters insurance was required when i moved in, i didnt have it, they gave me a month to get it, sent me two letters, still never got it, and havent heard from them since... i doubt they care that much as long as i pay up buttercup.. anyone else have an opinion or been thru a similar situation?? well yesterday i got a lovely 24 hour notice that the apartments i live in are coming to inspect and test the smoke detectors and change the batteries.. i noticed that right above my 2nd bedroom lies a nice little smoke detector.. if you have seen my grow its definitely not something that can be moved without a weeks notice LOL :cuss:.

well shit i went to home depot put a locking knob on the door and am just gonna pull the ol my roomate is not going to be in town till this weekend so sorry bout that..

they came a few weeks ago for a sprinkler inspection and it worked ok.. pulled the same trick LOL and it was a person from the fire department. they said they were going to put a note on the report but they havent come back and i doubt they will since the apts. are about 5 years old.

im wondering if i can get a qualified inspector to check them to satisfy the last requirements... this is a lesson why you dont grow in apartments lol such a hassle.. at least im in a med friendly state if anything did happen!

wish me luck... ill need it

so far so good, im sure i wont know if they want to come back for at least another week but if they do ill just tell em i dont have a key and i will let them know when she returns.. if they send me a notice saying they are sending a locksmith then i will just have to break it down or cover it with tarps and boxes lol.. i doubt they will go to that length, i pay my bills, am capable of changing the batteries and testing a smoke detector and if i have to put it in writing to cover their ass legally i will... ill cross a thousand different bridges before i let them in that room LOL
