TRUMP INDICTED

As usual, the Dem's and Repub's could not agree what to spend the money on.

Of $118.3 billion in the bill to be spent, only $20.2 billion (17%) would be spent to secure our southern border. The rest of the money goes elsewhere.

FUNDING BREAKDOWN
Total size: $118.3 billion. That includes:
• About $60 billion in military aid for Ukraine
• $14.1 billion in aid for Israel
• $4.83 billion in aid for the Indo-Pacific region
• $10 billion in humanitarian assistance for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, among other places
• $2.3 billion in refugee assistance inside the U.S.
• $20.2 billion for improvements to U.S. border security
• $2.72 billion for domestic uranium enrichment

How much is needed to “secure” your border? Asking for a friend.

Tell your friend that I have no idea how much it will take to secure the border. Perhaps your friend has been impacted by the illegal items and people entering the country.

There is so much shade to Trump(you'll never see the sun again) and it's implications if he is EVER in the O.Office again is BEYOND horrific,COMPROMISED,All his yahoos need to look that word up,AND that isn't even getting into the fact that as a human being he is the biological equivalent of pond scum,it's getting harder w/each passing FKN day coming to grips w/the fact that NONE of this shit registers w/a large portion of the electorate (WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE) as far as TOLERANCE and the STAKES involved (we are not electing a treasurer of the bake sale committee here) This MF is a complete travelling shit show,so FKD up he'd be ineligible to be on a city council in saner times, yet here we are,you could not literally make this shit up,AM I IN AMERICA???
You should find some pond scum and apologize.

sounds good to me. So, alrighty then. Lets start pushing for another bill to spend more on the border. What do you suggest?

It's a good thing that Mexico will build the wall so that we won't have to pay for it. That's one thing we don't need to fund.

It’s not actually about the border, as House Republicans proved when they axed the bill that gave them what they said they wanted.

The snag is the aid to Ukraine, especially now that they are starved for munitions and on the back foot. It’s important to remember that those Republicans obey That Man who obeys and adores the dictator of Russia.

It is not being reported with nearly the intensity that the situation warrants in our usual media: that Republicans are actively and awarely running interference for Vladolf. I expect them to do anything and everything to stall aid to Ukraine, our ally and protégé by treaty.

Treason is the prime mover in the Republican Party today. We are seeing the objective of the neoliberal long game above the horizon.

I would really like for the President to use his lawful authority under the Excess Defense Articles provision and cut Congress out of the process.

At this point Congress is so visibly dirty that their one hope is to end the Republic and replace it with an authoritarian regime of their making. If they don’t, the rule of law will ultimately expose and disgrace them, especially those young enough to anticipate decades of prison.

That is what underlies Republican sabotage of a remarkably gutsy young republic’s effort to defend its sovereign territory and identity. While I despise both the death penalty and our beyond-the-law dungeon in Guantánamo — the latter is the right place for that seditious cartel of Russian pawns.

First thing that comes to mind is to contact your local House and Senate person, let them know your feelings.
What do you think?
I don't understand why you listed all that budgetary stuff when the hard lifting was done in January and killed by Trump's fear that Biden was going to be successful in addressing the border issues. He and leaders in the Senate said so.

He said "Blame it on me".

Trump brags about efforts to stymie border talks: ‘Please blame it on me’

“A Border Deal now would be another Gift to the Radical Left Democrats,” Trump said in a statement on Thursday. “They need it politically.”

Short of passing the compromise bill that Trump and his MAGA senators killed, I think the House should allow the bill that the Senate passed regarding funding Ukraine to come to the floor for a vote. I feel that Republicans have conceded both issues to Democrats and should explain to the American people why they failed to work with Democrats to enable Biden to effectively administer security at the border. I have expressed this to my congressmen. So, I think I've already done what you said.

The carping Republicans and, I suppose, you through earlier posts is all just that. There is no sign that Republican leaders care about doing work for their constituents. The last valid attempt to work out a deal with Democrats was killed by Trump and his reason was that he didn't want Biden to succeed at his job this year. That degrades and neuters complaints like those shown in your post. It's not really a complaint about the budget, it's just a political talking point equivalent to a monkey throwing poo at anybody in range.

agree. And the sticking point isn't just Ukraine, the sticking point is that Republicans are not rewarded by their core supporters for actually doing something. Their supporters want a show. They want angry rhetoric and grievances voiced. But there are no consequences for people like Taylor-Greene if nothing gets done. As they showed in Jan and early Feb. Anybody who works with other members of the Senate or the House to enact legislation or pass funding bills that might actually do something causes the GOP doer to be reprimanded and demoted.

Georgia judge allows Trump to appeal Fani Willis disqualification ruling
A Georgia judge enabled former President Trump to immediately appeal the recent ruling declining to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) over her romantic relationship with a top prosecutor overseeing the election interference case there.

In a brief order issued on Wednesday, Judge Scott McAfee granted the certificate of immediate review requested by Trump and eight of his co-defendants in the sprawling racketeering case.

They are now expected to ask the Georgia Court of Appeals to take up the disqualification battle before the case goes to trial.

As the effort proceeds, however, McAfee made clear he won’t pause proceedings in his court.

“The Court intends to continue addressing the many other unrelated pending pretrial motions, regardless of whether the petition is granted within 45 days of filing, and even if any subsequent appeal is expedited by the appellate court,” McAfee wrote in his ruling.

Trump and his allies are accused of racketeering and other criminal charges by entering a months-long criminal conspiracy to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory in Georgia. Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges as well as those levied in his three other criminal cases.

The former president and many of his co-defendants are attempting to boot Willis and her entire office from the case over the district attorney’s once-romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor who led the Georgia criminal investigation into the former president.

The romance revelation created a months long detour in the case that included multiple hearings full of salacious testimony. Last week, the judge capped the battle by ruling that Willis could remain on the case if Wade left. Hours later, Wade resigned.

Trump and his co-defendants are now attempting to bring the matter to a higher court in the state, hoping to reverse the ruling to stall the case or even get the charges tossed entirely. They contend the romance created an actual conflict of interest, a notion that the district attorney’s office has rejected.

“The March 15 Order is of exceptionally great importance to this case, substantially impacting Defendants’ rights to due process,” lawyers for many of the defendants wrote in their joint motion seeking permission to appeal.

“Additionally, given the lack of guidance from the appellate courts on key issues, and the fact that any errors in the March 15 Order could be structural errors that would necessitate retrial(s), the grant of a certificate of immediate review is both prudent and warranted.”

when my kids did something wrong or were involved in behavior we were not in favor of and fought the process/method of our punishment and not the actual act is exactly the point where we knew we had succeeded in our parenting approach for the day
