Mine are poking out the bottoms too mate, I'm not really taking it too seriously as you know so I'm going to leave them be. Once the roots become bound in the pot, they'll just stop pushing lower and go round n round. Plus a few poking out the bottom doesn't really mean they're 'root bound' anyway, as the first thing they do is go down.

My advice... 11 Ltr pots... They're looking healthy as a pig in shit...
Leave them be and hope they start behaving. Alternatively you could research the effects of what snipping these roots off would be? I can't see it would cause any more damage than telling the plant, "this is the end of the road, don't go no farther" - but then I'd think that the plant would do that itself and stop root growth in that area.

Oh... another option. is the rubber tray things, let them roots swim and cover the trays to keep them light tight. They should be happy with that. Could be an easy way to administrate CO2 tabs or similar ;)

My two cents there ;)

Most def not root bound
Those roots coming out into the free air will Air Prune themselves...the whole idea behind Air Pots and Smart Pots...nothing to worry about.
When a root senses that it has hit free air it stops growing outward and sends a bunch of other little branch roots off from there back.
Actually kind of a good thing as it is known that the smaller offshoots pick up nutes the best.
Nice grow man....keep doing what your doing!

i had to make a foam cover for my intake fan.... and reduced the size of the hole from 5" to about 3"... that has raised the cab 5 degrees (now 75-76f) ..... much happier with that and seems to be stable, seems that the recent drop in outside temps has really shown any flaws in my ventilation system.... and i would like to have a speed controled fan for my intake, i might get another 3" one like i have for my exhaust it would give me more control and also would put less in then the 5" one i'm currently using, i'd leave the 5" one disconnected until the cabinet moves indoors .... sounds like a plan to me!

Update day 25 (flowering)
well as they seem to be growing quite well i'm happy to throw in another update... growth seems steady with plenty of filling out going on.... as you can see from the pics new bud sites are growing through from under the canopy... on the closeup of plant #2 there are 7 budsites just in the top section of the plant... and more pushing through from below!

LOL it takes a while, first couple of weeks seemed to take forever..... but after the second node they seem to be bigger everyday

(hoss suggested changing pots again) but i'm not going to bother as if i put them in larger pots i wont fit them in the cabinet lol... so it kinda rules that one out

having to adjust the height of the lamps daily now .... middle one (#2) has got some massive stretch going on, she is 14" tall, where as plant 1 & 3 are 10" & 7" ... but they have always been shorter and stocky..... plant #3 has always been runty but has kept pace flowering wise with the other two

temps are being a bitch lately.... just when i think i've got it cracked (24-26c) 75F ish ...... i check a few hours later and its running low agian 70f (20c) ish... and its been doing this for a week now

Try what Growone said mate, put a bottle of water in there with the lid on. The water's temp will rise to the internal cab temp and take a while to cool as the internal temps go down. Theoretically so, it should round off the temp peaks and troughs to a smoother more evened temperature.

I'd say 20C is okay though, if that is with your lights on you may want to consider turning the fans down a tad to gain a little more warmth.
12C is the bare minimum where death can occur, but 16C is roughly where you want it to stay above as stunting can occur below 16.
This is according to my research anyways... And what it comes down to, is that anywhere between 12C and 29C will give you good bud ;)

My heating cable is working a treat 4 sure. although my temps are also fluctuating quite rapidly from hour to hour, but I'm tending to not worry about it so much as there's little I can do until my cabs are nearer to completion.
Once I switch on my roman heating and have another much larger bulb blaring in the lower cab, I can then look about insulating my gaps properly. Then both cabs will have much more heat to share around :)
I've done a fair bit of work on it today and it's looking like a grow space now instead of a messy aging shed workbench lol
Will update more when I get closer to finish :)

An alternative idea for you to consider getting your temps raised... get another light :-D

To fix your height issue - Homebase do a wire screen for about 6 quid. Roughly 1m by 0.5m and holes about 2" square.
