Triches or bud mass?

Hi guys on my first grow, day 28 since pistils showed. I'm wondering.. My buds are looking frosty as anything I'm not dissatisfied with triches production at all, however my flowers are small and I'm worried I'm behind where I should be in regards to size of flowers and formation. I'm using a dual spectrum 200w CFL I know red is for flowering but blue is for vegging and triche production during flower. If I'd have gone all red would my buds have been bigger but less triches?

Thanks for looking guys.

They look alright for the time. Start counting your flowering from when you flipped to 12/12, that way you can gauge better for the next grow how things are coming along.

I wouldn't expect monster buds using just a 200w cfl.

You are only half way to the finish line. they swell in the last weeks. What strain? Keep in mind too that light intensity can make a difference too in production. There are a lot of variables in getting "yields". Grow this 3 times and you should definitely get larger yields each time as your plant/strain. Remember too it's your first grow, so your expectations shouldnt be too high. Good job so far.

I start counting about a week after flip. Sometimes flowering takes longer if your conditions are less than optimal.

Yeah they really start swelling about now and over the next two weeks. Feed full strength now :) Or extra if you think she can take it.

To answer your blue light question:

The idea that blue is for trichomes isn't quite accurate.

I believe this comes from the common convention of using Metal Halide in Veg.

MH is indeed more in the blue spectrum, but MH also also emits more UV light, which has been directly associated with increased trichome production.

So a blue MH can spur trichome production, but only because it's MH, not because it's blue.

seems like a lot of red hairs for 28 days, might want to look around for male flowers...
Yes lol it's me stupidly squashing the pistils trying to get a smell of plant. They bruised I guess. I tested by squashing my other plants and that too turned pistils colour.

I switched to 12/12 on the 1st of February. Took twelve days to show sex.

Thanks, I have no idea what the strain is, bagseed.

Stop doing that if you want the trichomes to be active by harvest time. Resin heads that are breached or exploded do not grow back.
If you want larger more resinous buds upgrade your lighting. Spectrum is not as important as wattage. Ive grown pot under almost every kind of light known to man...all other factors being equal the more energy you provide the larger & frostier they will get. They look good so far though for a CFL grow- nice job- they have more swelling to do I think; stay vigilant

Stigmas, often called pistils, contain no THC, terpenes, or anything useful. You can actually remove them without issue.

Which results in females that can't be pollinated. Not that I'd do that to a whole plant, that'd be a lot of work.
I never knew this. Pretty interesting.

Yeah man for sure, I realised it was a bad idea when they where changing colour. No more squashing lol

I don't really want anymore light, it's warm in there already with oscillating fan and extraction 25 c. My friend have just moved there plants to a smaller room (still bigger than my cubby which is 3feet by 2 feet) with there 600 w HPs the heat is way to high ID say it's in the 30s easy.

Lol I gave em some rooted clones I had taken, 2 days later they are dead, looks like they evaporated.. I've convinced him to move back to the larger area.

Nope, deep blue for tric production and UV for potency is how it actually works
