trellis Questions

Do i just put the trellis above plants at switch to flower and let them grow through? Would the trellis damage the stems if they get too heavy? I’ve had plants falling over and it’s a real hassle. Hoping a trellis can keep them from falling over leaning this time.

It’s an option, yes. I do the same as I have multiple rooms and a perpetual grow so I move plants from the veg room to the bloom room and put frames right at the canopy.

If it’s a very stretchy strain, I may still have to tie some branches up after a month or 6 weeks but the average “medium-stretch” strains with decent branch strength will almost perfectly stretch into the trellis, then around day 16-20 into 12-12, I’ll trim up the lowest nodes that wouldn’t produce anything worthwhile and let them go.

I will say that any very short and/or low stretch strains do NOT benefit from adding a trellis after switching to 12-12; atleast in my experience. Always seems to be worth finding alternate ways to support heavy branches if they simply don’t stretch enough to put some height above the trellis.
