transplanting baskets?

Hi,

I'm building my first attempt at Hydro. I'm going for a 30L DWC system with 8 pots for early vegging, before moving plants to a bigger system for final vegging and flower.

The smaller system would be better with smaller 2" pots, but i'd want bigger pots for later. Would it be easy to change to bigger 3-4" baskets later? or will that damage the root system to much? should i just stick to growing everything in 3" pots for the whole time?

thanks

For a DWC grow you should really germinate, then put them in their final home. If you veg in 2" net pots, the roots will grow out of them in a few days. Then what? Your only option is to put that whole pot into a bigger pot.

If a DWC, are you using rockwool and hydroton? If so, germinate your seeds and put them in rockwool, then put the rockwool into your netpots (I use 5.5") and into the DWC. You don't need to start smaller. For DWC its not the size of the pot, its the room in the res since almost all of your roots will live in your res, and the amount of bubbles in your res. Thats the important part.

If growing from clones, as soon as they root, follow the above advice.
