Transplanted too soon ....

As title says did a rookie move and transplanted too soon lol only my second grow . Knew this from the first but that was well 4-5 months ago . So kinda forgot about that little step form the beginning . Now I have 2 seedlings in a 5 gallon , 1 in a 2 gallon . Should I just let them continue or reduce their containers which , honestly at this point, seems counter productive. Thanks in advance guys

What difference does it make?
from my readings on the web, from various articles . It’s better to up pot in stages than to sow seed directly to large pot . ( unless autoflower ) for some reason rooting takes longer . Hurts yields . Ect ect . I said the same but it sorta makes sense when you think about how root structure works and how they establish themselves .

Rooting doesn't take longer and yield should be fine with enough veg time. You do lose a measure of control over feeding because it will take time for roots to grow into the soil.

Thanks for the reply I thought the op might have answered but there you go?
I've read to start in a small pot a number of times I've just never looked into the reason's why, but I think @smokinrav has answered my question, it's about controlling the moisture content in pot.
