transplant from hydro to soil?

So here's the deal, I was planning on doing an outdoor plant with my buddy this year. The original plan was to start a skywalker kush in soil. Which I did 3 weeks ago but have had some problems with my seedling. So all I have now is my mother's in hydro. They are in 3 inch net baskets. I was thinking of taking the neoprene collar out and trying to bury it in some dirt, net pot and all. Anyone try this before? Was it successful and do you have any suggestions. Any help is apreciated thanks.

ive transferred from hydro to soil many times... a old friend of mine would run out of space in his hydro grows or his plant would be way too big for his room so i would take it out of his 5 gallon flood system(they were in net pots also) and put them into soil.. and split the flower with him...its fine and totally doable they will absolutely droop and stress fr about 4-7days.... but don't feed chemicals or anything just water them when they need it and let them really really settle in before you start feeding....are you transferring them to a promix type soil or what are you planning on moving them into?

Looking to put them in 5 gallon buckets for 2 weeks then put into 15 or 20 gallon smart pot outside. Into roots organics original potting soil. it really wouldn't set me back if it didn't work out as I have other mothers. I just pretty much have to put all my eggs in one basket (which is a berry lowryder auto) And I'm not into autos rly. So I think I may try it. I'm thinking I'm going to fill a few inches of soil in the bottom of bucket, then rub some soil in the root ball. Hold the basket at the top of the bucket. Pour a few inches of soil reposition some roots and work in layers. I'll post an update when I'm finished and know if it's going to survive or not. I'd like some more suggestions or input thanks guys.

don't go through that much transplanting... move them to 15's now or wait your not going to want to move them from hydro to a five gallon then in a few weeks once its finally established in the five your going to pull it again and transplant it .. i mean there isn't a huge issue with it but i wouldn't transplant that much.. just do it once and be done so it can adjust and settle properly.

I wish I could but dont have room inside and it's not warm enough outdide. I might let it go more than 2 weeks idk. Depending on how everything is doing but I'd like it to veg in the 15 gallon for at least 2 weeks before it starts to get to flowering.

Well I Did it last night Rubbing dirt all over the roots before setting her in. as I rubed dirt on the roots, they started to separate. Then I gently packed dirt around the roots making sure not to leave big air pockets. She didn't even droop! Didn't stress her at all even now 12 hours after still looks great. Glad I did it so far nothing wrong.

I planted many plants out of dwc in net pots straight into the ground. They were fine, but I don't know if this is always the case. The plants I've transplanted were like a foot tall max and 12" thick roots. Actually, the last time I did this on my friends farm, I brought the hydro plants in a cooler and left them, she threw them on a decomposed pile of horse shit (just throwing some wet dirt on top of the roots) then the next say we planted them in the ground. The stems snapped the net pots in half by harvest.

That's good news man. She looks fine, with barely any indications of stress. Did you have any plants hermie? That's rly the only thing I'm worried about is putting this much time and effort into a plant and having seeded buds. Thanks for the reply.

I've had no hermies at all, I wouldn't do the transplant during flower but early veg to mid veg, no problem at all. I've also put soil plants in Dwc with no issues as well.

I've also planted dwc plants into dirt and dirt plants to dwc but like Alphaphase, they weren't that large -- maybe 12-18 inches. I'm not sure how a mother plant with a big rootball would react.

My mother wasn't that big either maybe 14 inches tall by 16 inches wide. Root ball was a decent size but not huge. Thanks for the reassurance guys
