Train wreck

Hi all, so it's that time to order and I'm interested in trainwreck. Never had it, heard about it... Read about it.. Looking for that menthol flavor, anyone had any experience w this strain? And who did you order from?
My last grow was 1 shiva skunk( love her) 7 week and the crystyleast golden buds. Keeper
2 white widows.. Typical... Nothing special.
1 Dutch cheese, very smelly, big stretcher from seed..hermied towards the end, not a huge deal, big yielder. Did I mention pungent!! It's a 2 bagger for sure!
But anyway train wreck?
Also any suggestions?

Which breeder's version of the Wreck are you going with?

I've got a pack of British Hempire F3 version from the Woodhorse originals. Have not done anything with them yet, but should be good!

I stick with the known brands, DNA, Nirvana, GreenHouse.....I am a lifer with the TGA Seeds, Sub is a god to the cause!!

Reserva Prevada was running some Trainwreck that got good reviews and they currently have the Kandy Kush = Trainwreck x OG Kush which you could check out. The Greenhouse version is a knock off and not very good. I have grown that out and have also had original cuts from the emerald triangle and their is NO comparison. Not sure who else has carrieda decent version. Sub has crossed a cut of Trainwreck he really like into one of his strains so you could read through those and see which one that is.

I noticed the reserva privada Kandy Kush, There are so many strains that I want to try, its hard to keep track of them all lol

I grew out the Kandy Kush freebie I got. Good stuff, man. Lots of stretch in flowering. I'd like to try trainwreck sometime, too.

The arcata clone is what your after if you want to grow trainwreck, getting hold of it is a different story. greenthumb says hes got seeds from the arcata clone but i dont know how true that is, i have never dealt with greenthumb personally. i heard mixed reviews about greenhouse TW and as for kandy kush its not pure trainwreck its got ogkush in it . i think thseeds have got a couple crosses too. if it was down to me i would search for the arcata clone and if that didnt work id prolly give greenthumb a go.

I've always been put off by TW as I've heard it's easy to hermie and genetically prone to grow balls!?

The version that Sub crossed with rectifies that exact issue. He created a hybrid with a cut that he found to be very stable. I've been researching it myself. Here's the link

The clone of the original is pretty hard to get unless you live in Cali. Goggle Train Wreck and you'll get a bunch of cool forum posts about the origins of the original.

BTW, Purple Wreck is Train wreck x Purple Urkle. and a really nice cross.

IMO, Trainwreck I've smoked was average mostly , some being above average. The taste just had a hint of menthol with the smell being kinda like dirty socks. I hear it is a good yielder and buds are on the smaller side but rock hard. I guess I wouldn't mind finding a clone, if I was able to smoke some of the mother plant first. I would probably go for the Apollo/Vortex cross myself. Good luck, jethead

I am currently flowering out my last Train Wreck. I'm tired of fucking with it after about a year now of trying to grow it and I am giving up on it. The clone I got from a dispensary in the Bay Area was very vine like, despite my best efforts... ie, supercropping and great air circulation. But the worst part is, when I changed over from a 24 hour lite period to a 18-on/6-off, it caused them to flower before they were done in veg. I have 8 other strains that are all doing very well under 18/6 . I changed to 18/6 after reading about benefits of the dark period and have seen a notable increase in root growth. I did 24-7 for 22 years I guess old habits die hard. As far as Train Wreck goes, the fight is not worth the prize IMHO.

Not a big fan of the flavor on the wreckage, it's an ok high though.
