Hi ,
i have just purchased a tent 2m x 2m x 1.2m.
i have 2 hps lights with 600w bulbs.
i havent yet bought an extractor fan as i dont know what size , what filter or anything to buy.
i am totally new to the scene and would really really appreciate any help.
i am going to be getting cuttings in the next fortnight so i need to get a move on.
i also want to know about co2 and if il need to have extra in the tent.
i am thinking about knocking a hole in my chimney breast and having the ducting from the fan going into this so the smell and stale air will be going into the chimney and out the top
so the neighbours wont be onto the smell.
any help at all will be great
thanks

take you length x width x heigth, this equals the space of your grow room. you need all the air to be removed in 5 mins. so you need a fan that can push that many cfm in that time. i think a 6 in. inline fan with a speed controller would be your best option. go to htgsupply.com they habe really good prices. and i know quite a few people that use their shit. they also have carbon filter/ fan combos that arent to hard on the budget either.

i hope this helps.

thats great gfreeman , thanks alot.
iv been looking on ebay at the extractors but il check that site out now
what do you think about the co2? will i get enough co2 from the air im pulling in?

i think so. i know the air in any said building is like 3x more saturated with co2 than outside. not the 1500 ppm co2 users want but still enough to yield plenty of dank. to me co2 is expensive and a professional supplement seeing as you have to have all other aspects of your grow dialed in properly to benefit from co2. to me its a big ass hassle trying to get all the nesessary equipment, then making said growing area air tight, than you have to figure a way to recycle your air, so your not wasting co2. :\

to me co2 is for professional commercial growers, or the professional hobbyists whose ready for the next level. i wouldnt worry about co2 if i was you for a while. i dont.

A couple of points about what gfreeman said, much was spot on and I dont want to sound like I am having a go here but I am speaking from experience. Your grow space is 4.8 M3 (cubic m) which is 170cubic ft. Having ran that sized space with 2x600W lights I can tell you exchanging the air every 5 mins just wont cut it. I exchanged air 2x per min and also had a separate fan cooling the lights via a cooltube to keep the temps below 80. My results were excellent. You will get a lot of heat in there and exchanging the air every 5 mins you will have to combat temps of over 100deg! You need a min of a 350cfm rated fan, the size has nothing to do with it except in making sure it is compatible with any ducting or carbon filter. I would rather you got correct info rather than go and buy something twice. As for CO2, you would need to seal the tent and have an AC unit to make the most of it. As gf said, it is expensive and not really worthwhile for a small grow. Peace W

Thanks woody , the extractor i have is an rvk250 but i dont have a filter as yet. im looking at the rhino ones
iv heard good things
the extractor is 10"
is this too big for my tent or is ther no such thing as too big when it comes to this?
how much in pounds will i have to spend on a rhino filter? iv heard you can get reducers to get a smaller filter.
