total noob about lighting...

I've been doing lots and lots of reading. I feel great about everything, but lighting.

I initially wanted to do a complete CFL grow, but found a 150 watt HPS system on htg for 70 bucks...

now my question is: if I get this system, is that all I need from start to finish?

(other than soil, fans, etc etc)

or should I start off with CFLs while it's sprouting out, and then veg and flower with HPS?

if I can use HPS throughout, should I just manipulate the hours of light the plant gets to make it veg/flower...or do I need a different spectrum of lighting?

I'm a bit confused...I have 10 regular power plant dutch passion seeds, so I need to start off with 3-4 plants, sex them, and keep the female(s).

I'm doing this as a hobby, and for the smoke of course. I just want to grow it and be finished as fast as I can (paranoid!)

oh yea, and I'm doing a closet grow... closet is probably 4 feet by 4 feet and a height of 8 feet maybe...

HPS can be used through out the veg and flower
it does better in the flower tho so you can supplement it with CFL in the 6500K (Daylight) range during veg to give it a boost in the spectrum needed for vegetative growth
its not completely neccesary but it wont hurt anything to supplement the HPS either

so I can use one 150 watt bulb throughout the whole entire growth?

yup you can. it will cover atleast 1 plant no problem.
just keep it close without burning your plant

i wold recommend 400 watt hps.that would be enogh for all your plants.also if you are growing in closet then paint it white becouse it will reflect light and it will speed up the grow

will a 150 watt with 4 CFL supplements light two plants? (since I have 10 non feminized seeds, I figure at least (hopefully) one of them would be female)...
