Tortoise vs. Hare

I hav a bagseed Im growin of some Kush and Purple. Tha Kush has been vigorus and thrived all through gernm , veg, and now in flowering reaching about 2 1/2ft. since 7/9. I've had the purple goin since 6/22 and itsa been hella slow (guess that is norm 4 this strain) and is only about a foot and a halve littlle mo or less. I sent them into flowering at the same time now it seems that the purple strain is starting to show after 1week that its female and although I saw the kush begin to change a lil after a couple of days ov 12/12 it hasn't began to show any signs of sex. Is this normal for a strain to do this grow like crazy doing veg and take foreva to sex and the purple being so slow and being female showing signs 1st. I thought if the Kush was a male I still should've seen him turn first. The only slight idea I have is that I have a light leak possibly exposing the Kush, but I'm hoping it's just typical of the strain.

I'm serious guys and this time I'll ask before lighting up. Is it normal for a strain to germ, veg, with extreme vigor thrive into flowering and just seem to shut down and take it's time? As well with the purple strain, I know it's known for being a slow grower but she is a showing after only a week and 1/2, not complaining I'm happy about that, but trying to understand the contrast, I do love my .
