tops not big enough for good yield?

  • I'm worried that the 2 topps of my blueberry plant aren't big enough and will only produce tiny colas.
    I do have other bud sites but I was really depending on the 2 main tops.
    At the start of my 4th week of veg I told my mate who also grows that at the start of the 5th week im going to 12/12. He then told me that I should top the plant before to greater the yield. So i topped it the first day of week 4 and it was a success however tomorrow is going to be the end of the 2nd week of flowering and the tops are only this big. I imagine that growth is going to slow now as bud production takes over so does this mean these 2 tops are not going to get big colas?

    For some reason I couldn't rotate the photo sorry. and the black lines are annoying too i know.​

Hi slothman, I have found the best time to top a plant would be during the veg cycle. This gives your ladies time to recover and grow some new shoots. If done during flowering, your new growth in this case colas will be stunted and growth will be directed to a different portion (lower colas) of the plant.

you wont produce a noticeably amount of less bud. It will just be redistributed more evenly. Some people top during flowering, some dont.

depends on the strain.

look fine to me, your only done with week two of flowering you say, its from now on your buds will begin to develop and grow, just sit back and watch and enjoy ..

agree, and further more it can stress the plant to hermit (develop male flowers) do your top/FIM/super crop before you switch to 12/12 if anything LST/scrog it doing flowering ..

don't worry man, the colas will get huge come flowering, just you wait and see!

thanks for the feed back guys. I was worried that I was going to get bad news but it seems like it will be okay. But by the way people keep saying I should top in veg but I did. Looking back now I deffo should have topped earlier maybe like an extra week but hey its my first grow so its all trial and error

dont worry, as long as you did it in veg you will be fine and so will your plant
