Topping?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any information about how to top plants. Thanks

:leaf:Just depends what you want to do with your plant does it matter if it grows high? Top it if you want it short but you may have to train the branches.
There is a bit of a debate if topping or "super cropping" increases yield all it does is give you two heads as opposed to one and you can even top the two again and this will produce four heads during the flowering period and so on.
They say you should top the plant in the earlier stages of vegetative growth its easy all you do is perform a 45 degree cut with sterilized equipment high on the main stem just after the where the node is (where it branches off). :leaf:

cut the top after the 5th or 6th node where that dude said, also dont do it more than twice and make sure it has time to recover before it goes into flower. it might stunt its growth a tiny bit and all that good shit peace

hey dude, i just topped my plant aswell.
it does a good job, when you wanna keep the plants small, especially when your growing outside (like me) and dont want them to get too big.
take look at the first picture...thats the first day i topped...
and then the second one is 3 weeks later.
its a good idea

Been topping for lots of years, but there is different reasons. Some for short-er plants... Other than that, I "top" to double the bud production, triple, etc. Cutting at an angle sounds like taking Clones, to me. I do NOT want one main top cola. I want every branch to have the same size buds as the top bud. Some Indicas cannot be topped, so beware. But normally, I top the top at about 3 ft. tall, which does 2 things. Doubles the top growth & slows the growth down, causing the other lower growth to grow faster. About 2 weeks later, I top ALL end growth, causing all of them to double. Now the bud production is doubled. A month later, do the same again, maybe 50 or more "pinches" to the end of the new growth. This will cause stress/hermies unless you have a very good balance of soil- a healthy plant. I will also top/trim the fan leaves if they block out light. 1/2 one week, 1/2 the next week, letting light in. I can't see paying elect. bills to have the light shine on a fan leaf.

pulling fanleaves towards harvest has an interesting effect on plants. we had 3 plants this year we didn't top or anything, towards harvest trimmed the fan leaves and they were the dankest and smelliest buds ever.

taste fucking amazing too :).
