Topping while budding??

An old school grower come by my house to look at my plant for me.. he told me that I should top on of my stalks, and add alittle cow shit (I live next to cowfeilds) to my plant... and that it is too late in the season to transplant.. my question is mainly, is topping my plant, while it's in the process of budding, gonna kill it or hurt it and what would happen if I transplanted it from a pot to the ground??

Im totally suspicious of old people too. They're the enemy man

As far as topping flowering plants, it will not kill it. However you cannot expect the plant to regenerate that part vegetatively to the extent required to make good buds. So you would be relived of a high stalk but would receive none of the other benefits of topping like the twin colas ect.

Iv transplanted the day I started flowering to no ill effects. Transplanting wont kill your plant either but the issue is that during flowering the plant is not prioritizing resourses for root growth, it is focused on producing buds. If you transplant now that its budding the transplanted plant will divert resources towards root growth that will be detrimental to the final product.

These are situational judgments. Not knowing as much about your situation I cant offer anything but general advise but in my experience if you want to top for some benefit you would need to do it at least a week prior to flower, at the latest maybe a week or two after. The only reason to do this is to allow you light to reach the majority of tops when you have 1 guy who got huge.

And as far as the pot, instead of repotting or xplanting just use stronger flowering nutrient regimin to offset the roots being bound up in a smaller pot. This requires experience with nutes so you dont burn anything.

But whats your situation? Are you growing indoors under lights? You mentioned xplanting outdoors, why?

I am in a situation that my one girl is getting so big that is towering over the other girls. I was thinking of topping her to make them all more even. My question is...if I do that will I lose my main colis?
They are all in day 28 of flowering. They are under 400w HPS.

jtreth, I wouldnt do that unless it was blocking nearly all the light, you will lose your main cola on that plant if you chop it. Consider moving the biggest plant to the edges and rotating it on a regular basis. I put my biggest freaks in the corner where most of the light is reflected.

I was just in there looking at....putting them on something to raise them. I moved my one big girl to the corner for now. I am going to look around the house for the others, to raise them. I am just so happy I didn't top the one.

I'm Growing outside.. I started it inside, in a small pot, transplanted it from a small pot to a larger one. After about two months, I moved it outside, because it wasnt getting enough light.. which was my intentions.. I wanted to give ita minimal amount of light, and then stick it out in the sun.. which seemed to have worked cause it shot up pretty quick once I had moved it outside, and added some dirt from around my septic tank.. I'm thinking of doing with lights, but not sure yet
