Topping Seedlings...

Question. When is the earliest that you can top seedlings. I'm gonna run a batch soon and want to limit the amount of branches that it produces. I normally top my clones at 2 stacks early so that all that energy is focused into 4-6 branches. So, what do you guys think. :leaf:

If I had to do it that early, I would first plant the seedling in a container with half a pint of mix or even less. It should get root bound by the 6/7th node and the seedling is ready to get cut and transplanted to abigger container. From my experience cuttings from root bound plants are easier to root and the seedling will keep growing without any delay.

Thanks for the tips guys. I was contemplating waiting until 4 nodes and cutting back to 2. I don't want to take too much off and stress the plant, especially when they are so young. I have some seeds that I crossed myself and may experiment a bit with this.

I cut the 3rd set of nodes with no problems and then as soon as the two new tops started to show I cut them and did it again and again to achieve 16. All and all the plant never missed a lick.
